The Wilaya of El Menia () is an Algerian Province created in 2019, previously, a delegated wilaya created in 2015. It is located in the Algerian Sahara. Geography The wilaya of El Menia is in the Algerian Sahara, its area 131,220 km² . It is delimited by: * to the north by the Ghardaia Province; * to the east by the Ouargla Province; * to the west by the El Bayadh Province and Timimoun Province; * and to the south by the In Salah Province. History The wilaya of El Menia was created on November 26, 2019 . Hassi Gara
Hassi Gara () is a town and commune in El Ménia District, Ghardaïa Province, Algeria. According to the 2008 census it has a population of 17,801, up from 13,911 in 1998, with an annual growth rate of 2.5%. It is effectively a suburb of the larger town El Goléa. Geography Hassi Gara is located almost at the center of Algeria, lying at the eastern border of the Grand Erg Occidental at an elevation of . The town is centered in the El Goléa oasis; to the east dramatic cliffs rise up to above the town. Climate Hassi Gara has a hot desert climate (Köppen climate classification ''BWh''), with very hot summers and cool winters. Ouargla or Warqla () is a province (''wilaya'') in eastern Algeria, with a population of 708 463 inhabitants in 2019. Its capital is Ouargla. Other localities include Hassi Ben Abdellah and Hassi Messaoud. It borders Ouled Djellal Province, El M'Ghair Province Touggourt Province, and El Oued Province to the north, Tunisia to the east, In Salah Province and Illizi Province to the south, and El Menia Province, Ghardaia Province and Djelfa Province to the west. El Menia
El Menia () is an oasis town and commune, and capital of El Ménia District, in Ghardaïa Province, Algeria. The former name is El Goléa (); together in Arabic, the two names mean ''Impregnable Castle''. According to the 2008 census it has a population of 40,195, up from 28,848 in 1998, with an annual growth rate of 3.4%. The area is inhabited by the Zenete Berbers. El Menia oasis grows many agricultural products. The grave of the French priest Charles de Foucauld is located in the town. Geography El Menia is located almost at the center of Algeria, lying at the eastern border of the Grand Erg Occidental at an elevation of . The town is a gateway to the Sahara in the south, and has an estimated 180,000 palm trees within the oasis area. The oasis itself lies beneath an escarpment rising up to above.
