El Mahalla Derby
The El Mahalla derby ( ar, ديربي المحلة) is a football match between Egyptian clubs Ghazl El Mahalla SC and Baladeyet El Mahalla SC, the two biggest clubs in El Mahalla El Kubra. The derby is always filled with a lot of excitement and thrill, often dubbed the "Fury Derby" due to the intense rivalry and animosity between the supporters of these two clubs. The two clubs have faced each other in both the Egyptian Premier League and the Egyptian Second Division, where Baladeyet El Mahalla currently plays, depending on which league the two clubs played in during that season, they have also met each other twice in the Egypt Cup. Even though, the performance of both clubs has deteriorated over the course of the past few decades, the derby still retains its value and prestige. El Mahalla El Kubra ( ar, المحلة الكبرى, , , ) – commonly shortened to ' – is the largest city of the Gharbia Governorate and in the Nile Delta, with a population of 535,278 as of 2012. It is a large industrial and agricultural city in Egypt, located in the middle of the Nile Delta on the western bank of the Damietta Branch tributary. The Egyptian Premier League ( ar, الدوري المصري الممتاز), also known as WE Egyptian Premier League (WE EPL) after the addition of title sponsor WE, is a professional association football league in Egypt and the top level of the Egyptian football league system. The 2019–20 Egyptian Second Division was the 40th edition of the Egyptian Second Division, the top Egyptian semi-professional level for football clubs, since its establishment in 1977.
