El Gouna
( , "the Lagoon") is an Egyptian tourist city located on the Red Sea in the Red Sea Governorate, Egypt. It is located north of Hurghada. It is part of the Red Sea Riviera, and a host city of the El Gouna Film Festival. It was created in 1990, and is owned and developed by Samih Sawiris' Orascom Development. El Gouna has 10 kilometers of coastline and consists of 20 islands surrounded by lagoons. The town is 25 kilometers away from the Hurghada International Airport. El Gouna's buildings were designed by European and American architects to resemble traditional rural Egyptian architecture such as that found in the Egyptian countryside and in Nubian villages. El Gouna specializes in watersports. There are several beaches including Zeytuna Beach () located on its own island, Mangroovy Beach, Moods Beach and other hotel beaches. The El Gouna Film Festival (GFF; ) is an annual film festival established in 2017, held in the Red Sea resort town of El Gouna, Egypt. The event is hosted by the El Gouna Convention and Culture Centre. The festival focuses on storytelling trends, as well as emerging talents from Egypt and the rest of the world. Overview The inaugural festival started September 22, 2017. The psychological thriller '' Scary Mother'', by Georgian first-time director Ana Urushadze, took the Golden Star, the festival's top feature film competition prize. Nubian Architecture
Nubian architecture is diverse and ancient. Temporary or seasonal settlements have been found in Nubia dating from circa 6000 BC. These villages were roughly contemporary with the walled town of Jericho in Palestine. Early Period The earliest Nubian architecture used perishable materials, wattle and daub, mudbricks, animal hide, and other light and supple materials. Sahl Hasheesh
' ( ) is a bay located on the Red Sea coast of Egypt, near Hurghada, approximately 18 km south of Hurghada International Airport. The Sahl Hasheesh Bay is home to a number of islands and coral reefs with diving and snorkeling. The nearby Abou Hasheesh Island is a local protectorate containing a thriving community of marine life.
