''Al-Bernameg'' ( ar, البرنامج, Egyptian Arabic pronunciation: elberˈnæːmeɡ">/nowiki>elberˈnæːmeɡ literally "The Show") was an Egyptian news satire program. The show was hosted by Bassem Youssef on the free-to-air channel MBC MASR and reruns are aired on Deutsche Welle; it was formerly broadcast on the satellite channels CBC and OnTV Egypt. Bassem Youssef announced on 2 June 2014 that the show was cancelled. Its satirical style, willing to poke fun at powerful personages across the political spectrum, on hiatus from his own hosting duties, returned the favour on 25 October 2013. On 1 November 2013, the show was pulled from CBC over differences with the broadcaster. The suspension of the show raised questions about media freedom in Egypt following the 2013 Egyptian coup d'état. News satire or news comedy is a type of parody presented in a format typical of mainstream journalism, and called a satire because of its content. Amr Waked ( ar, عمرو واكد ; born ) is an Egyptian film, television and stage actor. He is best known to international audiences and in Hollywood for his role in the 2005 film ''Syriana''. Other prominent roles include a Yemeni Sheikh called Muhammad in ''Salmon Fishing in the Yemen'', Pierre Del Rio in Luc Besson's '' Lucy'' and Farouk Hassan in ''Ramy. Egyptian Presidential Election, 2014
Presidential elections were held in Egypt between 26 and 28 May 2014. There were only two candidates, former Egyptian defence minister Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Egyptian Popular Current candidate Hamdeen Sabahi. El-Sisi won the election in a landslide victory, having received 97% of votes. Before announcing his candidacy in the election, el-Sisi, who as Defence Minister also served as Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces, was responsible for officially announcing the removal of president Mohamed Morsi from office in the aftermath of the June 2013 Egyptian protests. After Morsi's removal, Sisi installed a temporary interim government, but remained Egypt's Minister of Defence and assumed the role of the country's First Deputy Prime Minister. Maktoob ( ar, مكتوب) was an online services company founded in Amman ( Jordan). Maktoob.com was known for being the first Arabic/English email service provider. In 2009, Yahoo! acquired Maktoob.com, thus turning Maktoob into Yahoo!'s official arm in the MENA region. As of October 28th, 2022 Yahoo Maktoob no longer publishing content. It was established in 1996 with the purpose of operating Egyptian satellites and their associated mission control center and ground stations. Ziad Rahbani ( ar, زياد الرحباني, born 1956) is a Lebanese composer, pianist, playwright, and political commentator. Early life and career Assala was born in Damascus, Syria to a middle class couple. Mostafa Nasri, Assala's father, was a revered composer and singer.
