El Barco De Ávila
El Barco de Ávila is a municipality located in the Ávila (province), province of Ávila, Castile and León, Spain. It forms part of the region of El Barco de Ávila - Piedrahíta, and is located in the valley of Tormes River, and is the headboard of the natural region of Alto Tormes. In 2017 it had a population of 2436. Place names and symbols El Barco may take its name from a boat used to cross the river or, as different authors think, from different words of different languages: bar (in Hebrew house), from the Basque or meeting between villages, from the Celtic house. El Barco (settlement)
El Barco was a short-lived Spanish settlement in what is now the Republic of Argentina, on the banks of the Dulce River. It was the first town in the region of Tucumán, occupied from 1550 to 1553. El Barco was founded in mid-1550 by a conquering expedition from Upper Peru under the command of Captain Juan Núñez de Prado, who had been sent by Pedro de la Gasca, President of the Real Audiencia de Lima. The settlement was named in honor of La Gasca's hometown, El Barco de Ávila. Nunez de Prado distributed land, appointed members to the council and ordered the construction of a fort to protect the settlement from the Calchaquís. The site was poorly chosen, and the next year Núñez de Prado ordered it moved about a kilometer to the north. El Barco (The Ship) is a residential apartment tower in Albufereta, Alicante, Spain. It is formally called Torre Vistamar de la Albufereta, meaning "Albufereta Sea View Tower". El Barco was one of a cluster of buildings erected in the former village of Albufereta for "Pied-Noirs", or residents from France and other European countries, in Francoist Spain. It was completed in 1963. The building was designed by Juan Guardiola, inspired by the Pirelli Tower designed by Giò Ponti in Milan. It takes its common name from its boat-shaped floor plan. El Barco Lake (Laguna El Barco or Lago El Barco) is a lake in the Bío Bío Region of Chile, near the Callaqui stratovolcano. The terrain is volcanic in origin.
