El Amin Chentouf
El Amin Chentouf, (Arabic: الأمين شنتوف) (born 9 June 1981) is a Moroccan para-athlete running in T12 distance races. He has represented his country at three Summer Paralympics winning gold medals at each competition. Outside the Paralympics, Chentouf is also a world series Marathon champion, winning the T12/13 event at three London Marathons. Personal history Chentouf was born in Morocco in 1981. He is visually impaired. Career history Chentouf took up athletics in 2008. He made his senior international debut at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. He entered into three events, the 800m and 5,000m at T12 classifications and the 1,500m T13 race. He reached the podium in the 5,000m, taking gold with a world record breaking time of 13:53.76. The following year he entered the IPC Athletics Marathon World Cup in London, his first competitive international marathon. 2014 London Marathon
The 2014 London Marathon was the 34th running of the annual marathon race in London, England, which took place on Sunday, 13 April. The men's elite race was won by Kenyan Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich and the women's race was won by Kenyan Edna Kiplagat. The men's wheelchair race was won by Switzerland's Marcel Hug and the women's wheelchair race was won by American Tatyana McFadden. Kipsang and McFadden set course records. Around 169,682 people applied to enter the race: 49,872 had their applications accepted and 36,337 started the race. A total of 35,817 runners, 22,571 men and 13,246 women, finished the race. In the under-17 Mini Marathon, the 3-mile able-bodied and wheelchair events were won by Zak Miller (14:27), Lydia Turner (16:05), Nathan Maguire (12:24) and Lauren Knowles (14:23). 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships
The 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships were a Paralympic track and field meet organized by the World Para Athletics subcommittee of the International Paralympic Committee. The event was the 7th edition of what is now known as the World Para Athletics Championships, held from 21 to 31 October 2015 at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar. It featured 119 men's events and 91 women's events. The Marathon events which are traditionally part of the world championships were separated from the competition and instead held on 26 April as part of the London Marathon. Venues In January 2013 the IPC announced that Doha would hold the 2015 athletics world championships. In March 2014 the Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium, a 15,000-seat venue with an eight-lane track, was confirmed as the host of the event which would take place between 19 and 28 November. The International Paralympic Committee (IPC; german: Internationales Paralympisches Komitee) is an international non-profit organisation and the global governing body for the Paralympic Movement. The IPC organizes the Paralympic Games and functions as the international federation for nine sports. Founded on 22 September 1989 in Düsseldorf, West Germany, its mission is to "enable Paralympic athletes to achieve sporting excellence and inspire and excite the world". The men's marathon at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships was held in the streets of London on 26 April as part of the 2015 London Marathon. Classification Athletes were given a classification depending on the type and extent of their disability. The classification system allowed athletes to compete against others with a similar level of function. The London Marathon is an annual marathon held in London, United Kingdom, and is the 2nd largest annual road race in the UK, after the Great North Run in Newcastle. Founded by athletes Chris Brasher and John Disley in 1981, it is typically held in April but has moved to October for 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
