Eksingedalen
Eksingedalen or Eksingadalen is a valley that makes up the northeastern part of Vaksdal Municipality in Vestland County, Norway. The Eksingedalen valley stretches over from the Vikafjell mountains all the way to the Inner Osterfjorden. The Ekso River (also known as the Storelvi River) runs through the entire valley, from alpine lakes all the way down to the Eidsfjorden, a small branch off the Inner Osterfjorden. The Stølsheimen Mountains surround the Eksingedalen valley. At above sea level, Kvitanosi is the highest mountain peak around the Eksingedalen valley. The Modalen valley lies over the mountains to the north and the Modalen Tunnel connects the two valleys. Mainly a farming area, about 200-300 people live in Eksingedalen. It is the site of a number of traditional farms including the historic Gullbrå, Ekse, and Trefall farms. Eksingedal Church
Eksingedal Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Vaksdal Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Flatkvål in the Eksingedalen valley. It is the church for the Eksingedal parish which is part of the Hardanger og Voss prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The stone church was built in a long church design in 1883 using plans drawn up by the architect Hartvig Sverdrup Eckhoff. The church seats about 120 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to 1626 when an annex chapel was built on this site. The chapel was called ''Flatekval kapell''. There is some evidence that could be interpreted to show that the chapel built in 1626 was built to replace another chapel dating to the Middle Ages, but that is not known for sure. is a municipality in the county of Vestland, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Nordhordland. The administrative centre is the village of Dalekvam. Other villages in Vaksdal include Dalegarden, Flatkvål, Helle, Nesheim, Stamneshella, Stanghelle, and Vaksdal. The municipality is the 160th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Vaksdal is the 206th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 3,875. Flatkvål /fla:kol/ is a village in the Eksingedalen valley in Vaksdal municipality, Vestland county, Norway. The village lies along the river Storelvi, about northeast of the village of Stamneshella. The Modalen Tunnel is located about west of Flatkvål. The village of Nesheim lies about to the east. Flatkvål is the site of Eksingedal Church. History Flatkvål was administratively a part of Voss municipality starting in 1838. On 1 January 1885 the northeastern half of the Eksingedalen valley was separated from Voss to form the new municipality of Evanger (this included Flatkvål). Nesheim Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Vaksdal Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Nesheim. It is the church for the Nesheim parish which is part of the Hardanger og Voss prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1908 using plans drawn up by the architect Adolf Schirmer (one source credits Hartvig Sverdrup Eckhoff).
