Ekatarina Velika ( sr-Cyrl, Екатарина Велика, lit=Catherine the Great), sometimes referred to as EKV ( sr-Cyrl, ЕКВ) for short, was a Serbian and Yugoslav rock band from Belgrade, and was one of the most successful and influential Yugoslav music acts. Initially called Katarina II ( sr-Cyrl, Катарина II, lit=Catherine II), the band had built up a devoted following that greatly intensified and expanded after the death of its frontman Milan Mladenović in 1994, which caused the band to dissolve. The group's core consisted of singer and guitarist Milan Mladenović, keyboardist Margita Stefanović and bassist Bojan Pečar, with other members mostly remaining for comparatively shorter periods. Milan Mladenović
Milan Mladenović ( sr-Cyrl, Милан Младеновић; 21 September 1958 – 5 November 1994) was a Yugoslav and Serbian musician best known as the frontman of the Yugoslav art rock band Ekatarina Velika. Early life Born to Serb father Spasa from Kruševac and Croat mother Danica from Podgora, Milan's first years were spent in Zagreb, PR Croatia, where his father, an officer in the Yugoslav People's Army, was stationed at the time. Consequently, Milan grew up wherever it was that his dad's job took the family. In total, it ended up being three cities. When he was six, Milan's family moved to Sarajevo where he spent a notable part of his childhood in neighbourhood Grbavica. Eventually in 1970, they moved to Belgrade just short of his 12th birthday. Dragomir "Gagi" Mihajlović ( sr-Cyrl, Драгомир Михајловић "Гаги") is a Serbian rock guitarist. Musical career Mihajlović started his career as a guitarist in a progressive rock group Limunovo Drvo, which, formed in 1978 by himself and Milan Mladenović (guitar, vocals), after performing for two years moved towards new wave, with the arrival of Dušan Kojić "Koja" (bass, vocals) and Ivan Vdović "VD" (drums, backing vocals). In April 1980, Limunovo Drvo opened for Pankrti at Belgrade SKC. After the performance, Mihajlović left the band the rest decided to change the name to Šarlo Akrobata. Vladimir "Vlada" Divljan ( sr-Cyrl, Владимир "Влада" Дивљан; 10 May 1958 – 5 March 2015), was a Serbian singer and songwriter. He was known as the frontman of the Serbian and Yugoslav rock band Idoli, one of the bands which initiated the Yugoslav new wave on the music and cultural scene of Yugoslavia in the 1980s, as well as for his solo works. Early career Early activity Divljan got interested in music in 1968, after a Drago Diklić concert in Tučepi, a seaside resort where he went on a holiday with his family. After coming back to Belgrade he asked Zdenko Kolar and Boža Jovanović, two of his friends and neighbors, to form a band. Film is a Croatian and Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Yugoslav Rock music, rock band formed in Zagreb in 1978. Film is generally considered one of the most prominent acts of the New wave music in Yugoslavia, Yugoslav new wave scene, as well as one of the most notable acts of the Yugoslav rock scene in general. Srđan Marjanović
Srđan Marjanović ( sr-cyr, Срђан Марјановић) is a Serbian singer-songwriter from Belgrade. Musical career Early career Marjanović was born in 1952 in Banja Luka. In 1961, he moved to Belgrade, where he became interested in rock music. He played guitar in the bands Svici (''Fireflys''), Usamljeni (''The Lonely Ones'') and Gru. In 1971, he travelled to Sweden, where he performed songs by Donovan and Bob Dylan, accompanying himself with a guitar and a harmonica. 1972 and onwards Marjanović returned to Belgrade in 1972, and soon became a part of the Belgrade acoustic rock scene. Ivan Vdović
Ivan "Ivica" Vdović ( sr-cyr, Иван "Ивица" Вдовић; 14 March 1961 – 25 September 1992), also known as Vd ( sr-cyr, Вд), was a Serbian musician, drummer of Yugoslav rock bands such as Suncokret, Šarlo Akrobata and Katarina II. In his junior year of high school, Vdović became a member of the band Limunovo drvo led by Milan Mladenović. He later played drums in Bora Đorđević's band Suncokret which had two famous members Bilja Krstić and Gorica Popović. In the early 1980s he briefly played in Annoda Rouge band/project with Goran Vejvoda and his then-girlfriend Bebi Dol on vocals, and Slobodan Trbojevic on bass.
