Eiríkur Önundarson
Eiríkur Sverrir Önundarson (born 19 September 1974) is an Icelandic former basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic men's national basketball team. He spent 19 of his 21 seasons with Íþróttafélag Reykjavíkur where he won the Icelandic Cup in 2001 and 2007. Playing career Eiríkur came up through the junior programs of Íþróttafélag Reykjavíkur. He played his first games with the senior team at the age of 17 during the 1991–1992 1. deild karla season. He appeared in 16 games during the season, averaging 10.1 points per game. In 1994, ÍR reached the 1. deild finals where the team faced Þór Akureyri. After losing the first game of the series, 105–82, he helped force game three by scoring 24 points in a 105–83 victory in game two. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Above all, the point guard must understand and accept their coach's game plan; in this way, the position can be compared to a quarterback in American football. Herbert Arnarson
Herbert Svavar Arnarson (born May 4, 1970) is an Icelandic former basketball player and a former member of Icelandic national team. In 1995, he was the second player to be named both the Úrvalsdeild karla Domestic Player of the Year and the Young Player of the Year in the same season. In 1998 he helped Racing Antwerpen to the Belgian Basketball League finals where it lost to Spirou Charleroi. Jón Arnar Ingvarsson
Jón Arnar Ingvarsson (born 3 June 1972) is an Icelandic former professional basketball player and coach. He spent the majority of his career with Haukar in the Úrvalsdeild karla. He retired as the Úrvalsdeild all-time leader in assists but has since been surpassed by Justin Shouse. Playing career Club career Jón Arnar started his senior career in 1988, at the age of 16, with Haukar, where he spent the first 10 years of his career, winning the Icelandic Cup with the club in 1996. The same year he led the Úrvalsdeild in assists and was named to the Úrvalsdeild Domestic All-First team. In January 1998, he left the club and signed with Castors Braine in Belgium. Keflavík Men's Basketball
The Keflavík men's basketball team, commonly known as Keflavík, is the men's professional basketball department of Keflavík ÍF (Keflavík, íþrótta- og ungmennafélag), based in the town of Reykjanesbær in Iceland. They currently play in Úrvalsdeild karla. Rivalry with Njarðvík Keflavík's biggest rivals are their closest neighbours, Njarðvík. The teams are both based in Reykjanesbær. Keflavík and Njarðvík were neighbouring towns but were merged in 1994 and formed Reykjanesbær. Their arenas are within one kilometre of each other. The Hamar men's basketball team, commonly known as Hamar, is the men's basketball department of Íþróttafélagið Hamar. It was founded on 10 September 1992. History Hamar first fielded a men's team during the 1993–1994 season when it participated in 2. deild karla. After three seasons in the 2. deild, Hamar won the league in 1997 and was promoted to 1. deild karla. During its first season in 1. deild, the team finished 5th in the league. During the summer, Hamar hired former Icelandic international player Pétur Ingvarsson as its player-coach. It came into existence as a daily newspaper in 1981 when two formerly independent newspapers, Vísir and Dagblaðið, merged.
