''Ein Heim für Tiere'' (English language, English: A Home for Animals) is a German language, German television series that ran from 1985 to 1992, starring Siegfried Wischnewski, Marion Kracht, and Michael Lesch (actor), Michael Lesch. It was first on the air January 23, 1985, and the last episode aired March 19, 1992. Eight seasons of the show were made. Siegfried Wischnewski
Siegfried Wischnewski (15 April 1922 – 24 January 1989) was a German stage and film actor. Career Wischnewski was born in the Masurian village of Saborowen, then in German East Prussia (today Zaborowo, Poland) to a peasant labourer. He decided to become an actor after he appeared at a school theater, but was conscripted into Nazi Germany's ''Kriegsmarine'' after he had passed his Abitur at the Arndt-Gymnasium at Berlin-Dahlem in 1940. As a professional actor he appeared at the theater of Lüneburg in 1946 and in the following years at several other stages in Germany. In the late 1950s and 1960s he became well known for his TV-appearances, often as a police detective. He played several roles in popular TV-productions like '' The Squeaker'', ''Tatort'', ''Derrick'' or '' Der Kommissar'' but also in movie versions of Brecht's '' Dreigroschenoper'' (1962) or the ''Nibelungen'' (1966–67). Michael Lesch (actor)
Michael Lesch (June 30, 1939 – March 19, 2008) was an American physician and medical educator who helped identify an important genetic disorder associated with intellectual disability and self-mutilation. This disease is now known as the Lesch–Nyhan syndrome. In the mid-1960s when the syndrome was discovered, Lesch was a research associate working at the Laboratory of General and Comparative Biochemistry at the NIH National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, Maryland. William Nyhan, a pediatrician and biochemical geneticist, was his mentor. Lesch was 30 years old when he discovered the disease. Lesch completed his medical training at Johns Hopkins in the Osler Medical Service in 1964.
