Eilif Løvrak Holmesland
Eilif Løvrak Holmesland (25 August 1896 – 21 March 1959) was a Norwegian jurist and politician for the Liberal Party. He was born in Kristiania as the son of Peter Karl Holmesland and grandson of Simon Pedersen Holmesland, both former parliament members. He enrolled as a student in 1914, graduated as cand.jur. in 1919 and started working as an attorney in Gjerpen, where his father was district stipendiary magistrate (). In 1921 he moved to Arendal to work as a lawyer. He became a Supreme Court lawyer in 1928. From 1931 he had been a member of Arendal city council. He served as a deputy representative to the Norwegian Parliament during the term 1934–1936, representing the Market towns of Telemark and Aust-Agder counties. He met in parliamentary sessions whenever regular member Anton Alexander was unable to show. The Liberal Party (, , V; ) is a social liberal political party in Norway. It was founded in 1884 and is the oldest political party in Norway. Despite its native name, the Liberal Party is positioned in the centre on the political spectrum, and usually cooperates much more with the right wing parties. It is a liberal party which has over the time enacted reforms such as parliamentarism, freedom of religion, universal suffrage, and state schooling. For most of the late 19th and early 20th century, it was Norway's largest and dominant political party, but in the postwar era it lost most of its support and became a relatively small party. Nils Hjelmtveit
Nils Hjelmtveit (21 July 1892–30 October 1985) was a Norwegian educator and politician for the Labour Party. He was mayor of Stokken, MP from 1925 to 1930, Minister of Education and Church Affairs from 1935 to 1945 and County Governor of Aust-Agder from 1945 to 1961. Early career He was born at Hopland in Alversund municipality as a son of farmer Nils Hjelmtveit, Sr. (1861–1911) and his wife Ingebjørg Herland (1865–1893). He graduated from Stord Teacher's College in 1913, and was hired as a teacher in Eydehamn in the same year. He was promoted to headmaster in 1918. The Nasjonal Samling (, NS; ) was a Norway, Norwegian far-right politics, far-right political party active from 1933 to 1945. It was the only legal party of Norway from 1942 to 1945. It was founded by former minister of defence Vidkun Quisling and a group of supporters such as Johan Bernhard Hjortwho led the party's paramilitary wing (''Hirden'') for a short time before leaving the party in 1937 after various internal conflicts. The party celebrated its founding on 17 May, Norwegian Constitution Day, Norway's national holiday, but was founded on 13 May 1933.
