Eila Pehkonen
Eila Mirjam Pehkonen (since 1948 Kostermaa, 18 October 1924 – 10 September 1991) was a Finnish actress. In theatre and films Pehkonen was born into a family of five children. She was interested in acting and theatre since childhood, and in 1945, Pehkonen began her studies at the Helsinki Theatre Academy, graduating in 1947. During her career, she worked for several Finnish theatres. Among her colleagues in theatre, she was known as "Pehkis". Pehkonen's film career started with two memorable roles in films directed by Valentin Vaala; the title character in ''Maaret – tunturien tyttö (1947)'' and the female lead role in '' Ihmiset suviyössä'' (1948). Private life Since 1948, Pehkonen was married to actor and opera director Yrjö Kostermaa (1921–1997). Together they had two children. ''Time of Roses'' () is a 1969 Finnish science fiction film directed by Risto Jarva, about a documentary filmmaker in 2012 trying to find the true essence of a glamor model, dead for forty years, for a TV film biography. The script was written by Peter von Bagh, Jarva, and Jaakko Pakkasvirta. The model was played by Ritva Vepsä and the documentarian by Arto Tuominen. Helsinki Theatre Academy
The Theatre Academy (, ) is one of the three academies of the University of the Arts Helsinki and offers education in theatre and dance. It is Finland's largest education provider in its field and, with the exception of acting, the only one in the country. In September 2014, there were 349 students at TeaK: 315 in the bachelor and master programmes, and the remaining 34 were studying for a licentiate or doctoral degree. The current dean of the Theatre Academy is Maarit Ruikka, and the vice-deans are Leena Rouhiainen and Ari Tenhula.
