Eifelland Racing Drivers
Eifelland was a German Formula One team, named after its owner Günther Hennerici's caravan manufacturing company. The name Eifelland was chosen after the Eifel mountains where Hennerici was born, which are located close to the Nürburgring. History Günther's twin brother, Heinz Hennerici, was a World War II tank commander who lost his left arm in combat. The accident didn't prevent him from becoming a rather successful touring car racing driver, eventually competing in the Nürburgring 24 Hours. The Hennerici brothers were also instrumental in the establishment of the Automobil-Club Mayen. In 1970 Günther married , one of the few female Formula 2 and Sports car drivers around at the time. In 1971 Günther Hennerici decided to expand his activities to motor racing and founded his own team, Eifelland. Luigi Colani
Luigi Colani (born Lutz Colani; 2 August 1928 – 16 September 2019) was a German industrial designer. His long career began in the 1950s when he designed cars for companies including Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Volkswagen, and BMW. In 1957, he dropped his first name ''Lutz'' using the name ''Luigi''. In the 1960s, he began designing furniture, and as of the 1970s, he expanded in numerous areas, ranging from household items such as ballpoint pens and television sets to uniforms and trucks and entire kitchens. A striking grand piano created by Colani, the ''Pegasus'', is manufactured and sold by the Wilhelm Schimmel, Schimmel piano company. His unconventional designs made him famous, not only in design circles, but also to the general public. He received numerous design awards, although his unconventional approach left him largely an outsider from the mainstream of industrial design. The March 721 is a Formula One car, designed, developed, and made by March Engineering for the 1972 Formula One season. It was powered by the Cosworth DFV, Ford-Cosworth DFV engine. It was driven by Ronnie Peterson, Niki Lauda, Henri Pescarolo, Rolf Stommelen and Mike Beuttler. Racing history The 721 was the successor model to the March 711 and, after the strong 1971 season, was intended to secure March's leap to the top of the Formula 1 constructors. It came in three versions: the traditional 721, the 721X, and the 721G. The basic version of the 721, which did not have an additional designation in the form of a letter, was a slightly improved version of the old 711 and was built for customers such as Frank Williams Racing Cars and Günther Hennerici's Eifelland. 1972 Canadian Grand Prix
The 1972 Canadian Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held at Mosport Park on 24 September 1972. It was race 11 of 12 in both the 1972 World Championship of Drivers and the 1972 International Cup for Formula One Manufacturers. The 80-lap race was won by Tyrrell driver Jackie Stewart after he started from fifth position. Peter Revson finished second for the McLaren team and his teammate Denny Hulme came in third. As the Mont Tremblant circuit had been closed down because of a dispute with the local racing authorities, Mosport Park became the sole host of the Canadian Grand Prix. 1972 Italian Grand Prix
The 1972 Italian Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held at Monza on 10 September 1972. It was race 10 of 12 in both the 1972 World Championship of Drivers and the 1972 International Cup for Formula One Manufacturers. Before the race, the Monza circuit was modified with the addition of two chicanes, one before the Curva Grande and one at the site of the old Curva Vialone, in order to reduce speeds in the interests of safety. Team Lotus was forced to run only one car because Emerson Fittipaldi's Lotus 72D was seriously damaged in an accident while being transported to Monza. Fittipaldi raced another 72D, but with specifications very close to the 1970 model. The 1972 German Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held at Nürburgring on 30 July 1972. It was race 8 of 12 in both the 1972 World Championship of Drivers and the 1972 International Cup for Formula One Manufacturers. The 14-lap race was won by Belgian driver Jacky Ickx, driving a Ferrari. Ickx achieved a Grand Chelem – taking pole position, leading every lap and setting the fastest lap. It was his eighth, and final, World Championship race victory, and also Ferrari's only win of the season. 1972 French Grand Prix
The 1972 French Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held at the Circuit de Charade in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne, France on 2 July 1972. It was race 6 of 12 in both the 1972 World Championship of Drivers and the 1972 International Cup for Formula One Manufacturers. The Circuit de Charade's natural setting around the base of an extinct volcano created safety concerns due to the dark, volcanic rocks which fell from the mountain onto both sides of the track. Drivers who skirted the track edge would often send rocks flying into the middle of the road and into the way of pursuing competitors. The hazard was highlighted when driver Helmut Marko suffered a career-ending injury during the race, when a stone thrown from Ronnie Peterson's March penetrated his helmet visor and blinded him in the left eye. Marc Hennerici
Marc Hennerici (born 10 May 1982 in Mayen) is a German auto racing driver. He is best known for being the first winner of the World Touring Car Championship's Independents Trophy, in 2005. Racing career Hennerici competed in Formula BMW from 1999 and 2001. In 2003 he won the Alfa Romeo 147 Cup in Germany. In 2004 he competed in the DMSB Produktionswagen Meisterschaft driving a BMW 320i for Wiechers-Sport, finishing fourth. He and Wiechers-Sport moved to the new World Touring Car Championship in 2005. Despite not scoring any points in the main championship when rival independent Tom Coronel scored 11, he still was able to win the Independents Trophy. In 2006 he finished fifth in the VLN series. He often competes in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.
