Flintbek
Flintbek is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is on the River Eider, c. 10 km southwest of Kiel. The meaning of the name is controversial but one possibility is the combination of flint(stone) with the word bek (beck, brook). Flintbek is the seat of the ''Amt (subnational entity), Amt'' ("collective municipality") Eidertal, and of the former ''Amt'' Flintbek (Amt), Flintbek. Archeological excavations at Flintbek discovered cart tracks dating from c. 3400 BC underneath a megalithic long barrow, belonging to the Funnelbeaker culture. This is the earliest known direct evidence for wheeled vehicles in the world (i.e. not models or images). Rendsburg-Eckernförde
Rendsburg-Eckernförde (; ) is a district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is bounded by (from the east and clockwise) the city of Kiel, the district of Plön, the city of Neumünster, the districts of Segeberg, Steinburg, Dithmarschen and Schleswig-Flensburg, and the Baltic Sea. Molfsee
Molfsee is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated on the river Eider, approx. 1 km southwest of Kiel. Molfsee was the seat of the former ''Amt'' ("collective municipality") Molfsee. In popular culture, Molfsee is also a song by electro-artist Ulrich Schnauss, along with Blumenthal. Molfsee is known for its huge Open Air Museum called "Schleswig-Holsteinisches Freilichtmuseum" which opened in 1965. Over 70 regional historical houses can be visited.
