Egyptian Second Division A
The Egyptian Second Division A (), also known locally as the Professionals League (), is the second tier of the Egyptian football league system since the 2023–24 season. It is administered by the Egyptian Football Association. It is below the top professional league in the country, the Egyptian Premier League, and above the newly created Egyptian Second Division B. It is the first professional second-tier league in Egypt. History Plans to replace the old Egyptian Second Division with a professional league were first revealed by the Egyptian Football Association in 2018, with the purpose of increasing the quality of the league, improving domestic competitions, and also for marketing reasons. Egyptian Football Association
The Egyptian Football Association () is the governing body of association football in Egypt. A member of FIFA since 1923 and a founding member of the CAF, the EFA has jurisdiction over the Egyptian football league system and is responsible for the men's and women's national teams. The EFA headquarters is located in Gezira, Cairo. The EFA organizes the semi-professional Egyptian Second Division as well as the lower regional leagues at the third and fourth levels of the league system. 2023–24 Egyptian Second Division A
The 2023–24 Egyptian Second Division A season was the inaugural edition of the Egyptian Second Division A, the new second-highest level in the Egyptian football league system. It succeeded the old Egyptian Second Division, which was abolished and replaced with the new Second Division A and Second Division B as the new second and third-tier leagues, respectively, with the latter retaining the format used by the abolished league. Fixtures for the 2023–24 season were announced on 22 August 2023. The season started on 24 September 2023, and concluded on 26 June 2024.
