Egyptian Canadian
Egyptian Canadians () are Canadian citizens of Egyptian descent, first-generation Egyptian immigrants, or descendants of Egyptians who immigrated to Canada. According to the 2011 Census there were 73,250 Canadian citizens who are from Egypt, having an increase compared to those in the 2006 Census. Egyptian-Canadians are mainly either Christians or Muslims. Most Christians are Coptic Orthodox with small numbers of Coptic Catholic and Coptic Protestant. Muslims are mostly Sunni. During the 1960s, 75% of Egyptian immigrants settled in Montreal. By 1991, 49% of Egyptian Canadians were in Quebec, whereas 41% were living in Ontario. By 2011, 54% of Egyptian Canadians were living in Ontario and 31% in Quebec. Most Egyptian Canadians are concentrated in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Canada 2021 Census
The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canada, Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. It follows the 2016 Canadian census, which recorded a population of 35,151,728. The overall response rate was 98%, which is slightly lower than the response rate for the 2016 census. It recorded a population of 36,991,981, a 5.2% increase from 2016. It will be succeeded by 2026 Canadian census, Canada's 2026 census. Planning Consultation on census program content was from September 11 to December 8, 2017. The census was conducted by Statistics Canada, and was contactless as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. The agency had considered delaying the census until 2022. The Coptic Catholic Church (), also known as the Coptic Catholic Church of Alexandria, is an Eastern Catholic particular church in full communion with the Catholic Church. Along with the Ethiopian Catholic Church and Eritrean Catholic Church, it belongs to the Alexandrian liturgical tradition. Mohamed Fahmy
Mohamed Fadel Fahmy ( ; born April 27, 1974) is an Egyptian-born Canadian journalist, war correspondent and author. He has worked extensively in the Middle East, North Africa, for CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera English. Fahmy covered the Iraq War in 2003 for the ''Los Angeles Times'' and entered Iraq on the first day of the war from Kuwait. Upon completion of his one-year mission, he authored his first book, ''Baghdad Bound''. Most recently, he covered the Arab Spring. In September 2013, Fahmy accepted a new post as the Al Jazeera English International Bureau Chief based in Egypt. Manuel Tadros
Hany Manuel Tadros (; born 30 September 1956) is an Egyptian-Canadian singer, songwriter, actor, comedian and voice actor. He currently works and lives in Quebec. Early life Tadros was born in Cairo, Egypt to a Christian family. His father, Emmanuel Saadi Tadros, was a Copt, and his mother, Suzette Sawaya, was of Lebanese descent. Tadros's parents immigrated to Quebec when he was ten years old. His father bought him a guitar when he was 12 and he started composing and singing, eventually performing at the ''Vieux Damas'' venue in Saint Vincent. Athena Karkanis (born September 7, 1981) is a Canadian television, film and voice actress. Sheref Sabawy (Arabic: شريف السبعاوي) is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 2018 provincial election. The 2016 Canadian census was an enumeration of Canadian residents, which counted a population of 35,151,728, a change from its 2011 population of 33,476,688. The census, conducted by Statistics Canada, was Canada's seventh quinquennial census. The official census day was May 10, 2016. Census web access codes began arriving in the mail on May 2, 2016. The 2016 census marked the reinstatement of the mandatory long-form census, which had been dropped in favour of the voluntary National Household Survey for the 2011 census.
