Ali Sugule Egal
Sugule (, , ) was a Somalis, Somali poet. Sugulle is considered to be one of the greatest composers, poets and playwrights of the Somali language. Overview Sugulle was born in 1936 in Hargeisa in former British Somaliland (now Somaliland) to an Isaaq family from the Habar Yoonis subclan. Sugule was against the Siad Barre regime who ruled Somalia from 1969 to 1991, that used the method "kill all but the crows" in Somaliland Archived aGhostarchiveand thWayback Machine Sugulle wrote numerous plays, poems and songs against dictator Siad Barre that led to his imprisonment for several years. Mohamed Haji Ibrahim Egal (, ; August 15, 1928 – May 3, 2002) was a Somali politician who served as the president of Somaliland from 1993 to his death in 2002. He previously served as the prime minister of the State of Somaliland between 26 June and 1 July 1960 and as the first prime minister of the Somali Republic for eleven days in 1960 and again from 1967 to 1969.
