Efthimios Diplaros
Efthimios Diplaros (Greek: Ευθύμιος Δίπλαρος; born March 18, 1980) is a Greek Cypriot politician, who has served as the Deputy President of the Democratic Rally since May 2023. He has been a member of parliament for the Limassol Electoral District since 2011. Biography He studied communication and mass media at the Professional Training Institute DELTA in Thessaloniki. Before becoming an MP he worked as a journalist. He is married to Argyro Rotsidou and has three sons and one daughter. Political career During the period of 2001–2003, he was a member of the Youth Council of the Democratic Rally (NEDISY). Since 2003, he has been a member of the Limassol District Council of DISY and a member of the Supreme Council of DISY. Limassol
Limassol, also known as Lemesos, is a city on the southern coast of Cyprus and capital of the Limassol district. Limassol is the second-largest urban area in Cyprus after Nicosia, with an urban population of 195,139 and a district population of 262,238. The Limassol municipality is the most populated in Cyprus, with a population of 108,105, followed by Strovolos in Nicosia. Limassol was built between two ancient Greek cities, Amathus and Kourion. Its historical centre is located around the medieval Limassol Castle and the Old Port. Democratic Rally
The Democratic Rally (, ΔΗΣΥ, DISY) is a Christian democratic and liberal-conservative political party in Cyprus led by Annita Demetriou. The party was founded on 4 July 1976 by veteran politician Glafcos Clerides. Two leaders of the party have served as presidents of Cyprus, Clerides from 1993 until 2003 and Nicos Anastasiades from 2013 to 2023. From 11 March 2023, the leader of the party is Annita Demetriou, who also serves as the president of the House of Representatives since June 2021. Harris Georgiades
Harris Georgiades (; born 9 April 1972) is a Greek Cypriot economist and politician. He was pivotal in the successful implementation of the economic reform plan for Cyprus and its successful conclusion in 2016. Harris Georgiades is chairman of the Foreign and European Affairs Committee of the Cyprus Parliament and Deputy Leader of the Democratic Rally Party. He served as Minister of Finance of the Republic of Cyprus between April 2013 – December 2019. 2011 Cypriot Legislative Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Cyprus on 22 May 2011 to elect the 56 Members of the House of Representatives. They were won by the Democratic Rally, who increased their seats from 18 to 20. The governing Progressive Party of Working People also gained a seat, bringing them up to 19. The Democratic Party lost two of their 11 seats and the European Party lost one of their three seats. The Movement for Social Democracy held on to their five seats.
