Effroyables Jardins
''Strange Gardens'' () is a 2003 French drama film based on the eponymous novel by Michel Quint. Plot In the 1950s, Jacques, a local school teacher goes back to the small province town where he used to live during the German Occupation of France, Douai. He goes there every year for the town fair, accompagnied by his wife (Louise) and two children (Françoise and Lucien), in order to perform a clown routine in front of the audience. On the way, they pick up Jacques' best friend, André, a local washed up castelain and an old lady, Marie. During the routine where the audience loves the performance, André notices that Lucien does not enjoy the situation at all and goes to inquire. The kid tells André that he feels ashamed of his father's actions and does not understand why he ridicules himself like that every year. Jacques Witta (born 22 April 1934) is a French film editor who began working in motion picture editing in the late 1950s. During his career, he has edited more than 60 feature films and has worked with noted French film directors such as Claude Berri and Jean Becker but is best known for his collaboration with Krzysztof Kieślowski which began with ''The Double Life of Véronique'', and continued on '' Three Colors: Blue'' and '' Three Colors: Red''. Zbigniew Preisner (; born 20 May 1955 as Zbigniew Antoni Kowalski) is a Polish film score composer, best known for his work with film director Krzysztof Kieślowski. He is the recipient of the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis as well as the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. He is a member of the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma, French Film Academy.
