Eeva Ruoppa (2 May 1932 Miehikkälä – 27 April 2013 Miehikkälä) was a cross-country skier from Finland who competed during the early 1960s. She won a bronze medal in the 3 × 5 km relay at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley. Ruoppa also won a bronze medal in the 3 × 5 km relay at the 1962 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Zakopane. Eeva-Liisa Manner (5 December 1921 – 7 July 1995) was a Finnish poet, playwright and translator. Biography She was born in Helsinki, 5 December 1921, but spent her youth in Vyborg (Viipuri). Manner started as a poet in 1944 with ''Mustaa ja punaista'' ("Black and Red"). From her breakthrough collection of poems, ''Tämä matka'' ("This Journey", 1956) she was seen as one of the most influential modernists in post-war Finland. Manner wrote over fifteen original collections of poems, plays for theater and radio, novels and short prose. She translated widely in both contemporary and classic literature, including names like William Shakespeare, Lewis Carroll, Hermann Hesse, and Franz Kafka. Her work has been translated to many European languages. Translation of Manner's ''Selected Poems'' in English was published in 1997, and the novel ''Girl on Heaven's Pier'' in 2016 by Dalkey Archive Press. Eeva-Kaarina Volanen (January 15, 1921 Kuusankoski – January 29, 1999 Helsinki) was a Finnish actress. She worked at the Finnish National Theatre for 45 years (1945–1990). Her husband was professor Sakari Puurunen (July 25, 1921 Iisalmi – August 5, 2000 Helsinki). They had no children. Volanen died suddenly in 1999, at age 78. Eeva-Kaarina Aronen (30 December 1948 - 16 December 2015) was a Finnish author and journalist. Her novels were nominated for the Runeberg Prize and the Finlandia Prize. Early life and education Eeva-Kaarina “Epi” Aronen was born in Helsinki on 30 December 1948. She attended school in Töölö, received a bachelor's degree at the Helsingin yliopiston Viikin normaalikoulu in Helsinki in 1968, and graduated from the University of Helsinki in 1975 with a major in Romance philology and Russian Language and Literature.
