Eero Liives
Eero Liives (15 February 1892 Avispea, Vao borough, Väike-Maarja Parish, Virumaa – 25 April 1978 Tallinn) was an Estonian composer and violinist. Liives was the son of writer Ardi Liives. From 1918 until 1965, he played violin in Theatre Estonia Symphony Orchestra. From 1945 until 1948, he was a member of Estonian Composers' Union. His son was writer Ardi Liives Ardi Liives (until 1939 Liinev; 31 August 1929 in Tallinn – 9 December 1992 in Tallinn) was an Estonian writer and playwright. Vao, Lääne-Viru County
Vao is a village in Väike-Maarja Parish, Lääne-Viru County, in northeastern Estonia. Since 2014, Vao is the location of Vao Accommodation Centre, an accommodation centre for asylum seekers. Since the European migrant crisis has gained wide media attention in Estonia, Vao Centre has become the site of demonstrations against refugees. On 3 September 2015, the external wall of the center was set to fire. No one was hurt in the incident. Vao Castle Vao (german: Wack) castle is a well-preserved medieval tower fortress. It was built in the later half of the 14th century as a so-called "vassal castle", i.e. a smaller fortress built to keep control in areas where large strongholds were not needed. Now it is divided into Ida-Viru County or Eastern Vironia and Lääne-Viru County or Western Vironia. Theatre Estonia
Estonia Theatre is an historic building in Tallinn, Estonia, which houses the Estonian National Opera and the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. The original Jugendstil building was designed by Finnish architects Armas Lindgren and Wivi Lönn. It was built as a national effort with the leadership of Estonia society in 1913 and was opened to the public on 24 August. At the time, it was the largest building in Tallinn. Pidulik Marss
The (''Presidential March'', also translated to ''Solemn March'') is the official honorary march of the President of Estonia which is played as a welcoming/inspection march for the president, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Estonian Defence Forces. The march was composed by Estonian musician Eero Liives (1892–1978). Today the march is played by the Kaitseväe Orkester during military reviews of troops such as the Estonian Honour Guard during state visits and the ''Eesti Kaitsevägi'' during military parades in Tallinn. On 27 January 1923, it was adopted as the military march by of the Estonian Head of State. Prior to that, (known in Estonian as ''Porilaste marss'') was used as a presidential song.
