Edwin Ferdinand
Edwin Ferdinand (born October 12, 1971) is a St. Lucian former footballer who represented the Saint Lucia national football team. Playing career Ferdinand spent some time with the Caribbean Stars in the Canadian International Soccer League from 1995. During this time, the team won the 1996/1997 CISL Indoor Championship. In 1999, he signed with Northern United All Stars of the Saint Lucia Gold Division. Saint Lucia ( acf, Sent Lisi, french: Sainte-Lucie) is an island country of the West Indies in the eastern Caribbean. The island was previously called Iouanalao and later Hewanorra, names given by the native Arawaks and Caribs, two Amerindian peoples. Part of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles, it is located north/northeast of the island of Saint Vincent, northwest of Barbados and south of Martinique. Caribbean Stars Soccer Club was a professional soccer club in the Greater Toronto Arena, Canada, which evolved to a news and sports website. Its inception was in 1995 as a founding member of the Canadian International Soccer League (CISL). In 2006, Caribbean Stars returned to the professional scene with the launching of the Caribbean Selects franchise which competed in the Canadian Soccer League (CSL). Northern United All Stars is a Saint Lucian football club based in Gros Islet, competing in the Saint Lucia Gold Division, the top tier of Saint Lucian football. The club participated in the 2011 CFU Club Championship, playing in the first elimination stage of the Preliminary phase. The Saint Lucia national football team represents Saint Lucia in men's international football and is administered by the Saint Lucia Football Association, the governing body for football in Saint Lucia. They have been a member of FIFA since 1988 and a member of CONCACAF since 1986. The first round of qualifying matches for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in the CONCACAF section featured the 22 teams ranked 14 to 35 on the FIFA ranking for CONCACAF as of May 2007. The teams ranked 14th to 24th were randomly drawn against the teams ranked 25th to 35th. The draw took place on 25 November 2007 in Durban, South Africa.
