Edwardstown
Edwardstown is an inner southern-western suburb located 6 km southwest of Adelaide in the City of Marion. In 1989 the suburb of Edwardstown was split, with the portion east of South Road becoming Melrose Park. This occurred as the suburb was quite large, located on either side of South Road and was in the jurisdiction of two local government councils, with the larger western side belonging to the City of Marion. Edwardstown is in the South Australian House of Assembly districts of Badcoe and Elder, and the Australian House of Representatives Division of Boothby. Edwardstown is home to the Castle Plaza Shopping Centre. Edwardstown is served by the Woodlands Park and Edwardstown railway stations. The current suburb of Edwardstown includes localities previously known as Hammersmith, Woodlands Park, St Mary's West, Ackland Gardens and Mirreen. Edwardstown Railway Station
Edwardstown railway station is located on the Seaford and Flinders lines. Situated in the inner south-western Adelaide suburb of Edwardstown, it is 7.9 kilometres from Adelaide station. History Edwardstown railway station was opened in 1913. Edwardstown railway station once had a goods yard, where SteamRanger restored its centenary carriages when it was received from the State Transport Authority. It is of an island platform construction, with pedestrian access at the northern and southern ends and the railway tracks on either side to the east and west. The station is unattended and there are no facilities, other than a shelter shed and public address system. Ascot Park, South Australia
Ascot Park is a suburb in the south-western part of Adelaide in the City of Marion. It was named after Ascot Racecourse in England. Ascot Park is bordered in the west by Marion Road, to the north by Wood Street, in the east by Robert Street and West Street and to the south by the southernmost of Daws Road and the Seaford railway line. It is adjacent to Park Holme, Edwardstown, South Plympton and Mitchell Park. Clovelly Park is an inner southern suburb of Adelaide in the local government area of the City of Marion. Before becoming an 'advanced' suburb, it was a farm and vineyard. Glandore (postcode 5037) is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, partly in the City of Marion and partly in the City of West Torrens. Castle Plaza is a shopping centre located in the Adelaide suburb of Edwardstown, South Australia approximately from the CBD, along South Road. It was expanded in the mid-1980s and the new development was opened in July 1987. Attending that day were a number of local personalities including John Platten. Providing the guard of honour were the 1st Ascot Park Scout Group.
