Edward Theodore (organist)
Edward Granville Theodore (29 December 1884 – 9 February 1950) was an Australian politician who served as Premier of Queensland from 1919 to 1925, as leader of the state Labor Party. He later entered federal politics, serving as Treasurer in the Scullin Labor government. Theodore was born in Adelaide, the son of a Romanian immigrant. He left school at the age of 12, and spent the next decade working his way around the country. He arrived in Queensland in 1906, and soon became involved in the labour movement. Theodore was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly in 1909, aged just 24. He was also elected state president of the Australian Workers' Union in 1913. Theodore became Treasurer of Queensland following Labor's victory at the 1915 state election. In 1919, Theodore succeeded T. J. Ryan as premier. John Fihelly
John Arthur Fihelly (7 November 1882 – 2 March 1945) was a public servant, politician and rugby union player in Queensland, Australia. He was the Treasurer of Queensland. He represented Australia as a professional rugby league footballer and a founder of the Queensland Rugby League. Early life Fihelly was born in Timoleague, County Cork, Ireland. The family emigrated to Australia the following year. He was educated at the Petrie Terrace State School and St Joseph's College, Gregory Terrace, until 1895. He then joined the post office as a telegraph messenger. He eventually transferred to the Department of Trade and Customs. Michael Woods (Australian Politician)
Michael Joyce Reginald Woods (1857 - 12 November 1934) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Woods was born in Parramatta, New South Wales, the son of the Michael Woods and his wife Sarah (née McCreah). He was educated in Goulburn and he spent all his working life in the railways. John O'Keefe (Australian Politician)
John O'Keefe (11 January 1880 – 27 January 1942) was an Australian politician. He was a Labor member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland, representing Chillagoe from 1926 to 1929 and Cairns from 1930 to 1942. He was Attorney-General from 1940 to 1941. Electoral District Of Woothakata
The electoral district of Woothakata was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Queensland. It was first created in a redistribution ahead of the 1888 colonial election, and existed until the 1912 state election. Woothakata electorate covered the western Atherton Tableland and the total catchment area of the Mitchell River on lower Cape York Peninsula, including the towns of Chillagoe and Herberton. Woothakata was abolished in the 1911 redistribution being split into the existing electoral district of Cook (northern part), the new electoral district of Eacham (eastern part) and the new electoral district of Chillagoe (south-eastern part). The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Elections are held every four years and are done by full preferential voting. William Forgan Smith (15 April 188725 September 1953) was an Australian politician. He served as Premier of the state of Queensland from 1932 to 1942. He came to dominate politics in the state during the 1930s, and his populism, firm leadership, defence of states' rights and interest in state development make him something of an archetypal Queensland Premier. Walter Barnes (politician)
Walter Henry Barnes (7 September 1858 – 19 February 1933) was a longtime member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early years Barnes was born in Castlemaine, Colony of Victoria, a son of Hiram Barnes, who took his family to Queensland when he was six years old. He gained employment in the saddler business, then worked as a driver for Cobb and Co. coaches. He next worked for the Post Office, then in 1884 joined his brother's firm of Barnes and Co. Ltd., produce and general merchants. He held the position of manager of the Roma Street business for very many years, and ultimately became managing director of the company.
