Edward S. Rogers
Edward Samuel "Ted" Rogers Jr., (May 27, 1933 – December 2, 2008) was a Canadian businessman and philanthropist who served as the president and CEO of Rogers Communications. He was the fifth- richest person in Canada in terms of net worth. Life and career Rogers was born in Toronto, Ontario, the son of Velma Melissa (Taylor) and radio pioneer and inventor Edward S. Rogers Sr. He was educated at Upper Canada College. He subsequently attended Trinity College in the University of Toronto, graduating in 1956 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. When he was an undergraduate student, Rogers joined the Sigma Chi fraternity. In 1979, he was named a ''Significant Sig'' by the fraternity – the 21st Canadian to be inducted. CFRB (1010 AM) is a commercial radio station in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is owned by Bell Media and carries a News/Talk radio format. Its studios and offices are in the Entertainment District at 250 Richmond Street West. One of the oldest surviving radio stations active in Toronto, CFRB went on the air on February 19, 1927, as 9RB owned by Edward S. Rogers Sr., with the callsign derived from its parent Rogers Vacuum Tube Company, and the station moved to its current 1010 AM frequency in 1948. John Roland Robinson, 1st Baron Martonmere, (22 February 1907 – 3 May 1989) was a British Conservative Party politician who was a Member of Parliament from 1931 to 1964.
