Edward Riley (pastoralist)
Edward Riley (30 January 1784 – 21 February 1825) was a merchant and early pastoralist in Sydney, Australia. Born in London to George Riley Sr., a well-educated bookseller, and Margaret Raby, he was the younger brother of Alexander Riley and the first person in his family to be interested by colonial life, moving to Calcutta and trading between Canton and Australia. John Harris (Australian Settler)
John Harris (1754 – April 1838) was a military surgeon, naval officer and landowner, who arrived in New South Wales on the second fleet and ultimately became one of the major landowners in New South Wales, New South Wales, Australia. Early life John Harris, who was the son of John and Ann Harris was born in 1754 on the Moy McIlmurry farm in Moneymore, County Londonderry, Ireland. Harris lived a prosperous life, with his family working as tenant farmers on the Worshipful Company of Salters, Salters Company which received a grant from the Crown Estate, Crown in 1611. Richard Brooks (1833), pioneer New South Wales settler, was born in Devon, England, the son of Henry Brooks, a clergyman of Salcombe Regis and Honoria Hall (daughter of Joseph Hall the vicar of Salcombe Regis and his wife Honoria Burchinshaw). Rear Admiral George Barney Hamley Fawkes CB, CVO, CBE (4 September 1903 – 26 July 1967) was a Royal Navy officer who became Flag Officer Submarines. Naval career Fawkes joined the Royal Navy in 1920. Anthony Fenn Kemp
Anthony Fenn Kemp (1773 – 28 October 1868) was a soldier, merchant and a deputy judge advocate of the colony of New South Wales (the predecessor to the Australian State). He was one of the key participants in the "Rum Rebellion" that removed William Bligh, the appointed governor of the colony, and established an interim military government. He was later permitted to settle in Van Diemen's Land and became a successful merchant and farmer there. Early years Kemp was born in England, near Aldgate, London, probably around 1773. He was educated in Greenwich, London. After finishing school, he travelled to the United States and to France. On his return, he purchased a commission as an ensign in the New South Wales Corps, a regiment raised in England specifically to maintain discipline in the colony of New South Wales.
