Edward Gerhard
Ed Gerhard is an American Grammy Award winning guitarist. He is known for his acoustic fingerstyle guitar playing and lap steel guitar music. Career Gerhard was born in Abington, Pennsylvania. He started playing guitar when he was fourteen, inspired by seeing classical guitarist Andrés Segovia on television. He was also influenced by the open tunings of folk guitarist John Fahey. In 1987 Gerhard released his debut solo album, ''Night Birds''. He established Virtue Records in 1991 as a record label for his work and for instrumental acoustic guitar music. In December 1982, he began performing an annual concert in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He received a Grammy Award for his participation in the album '' Henry Mancini: Pink Guitar'' (Solid Air, 2004), for which he arranged and performed "Moon River". Abington Township is a township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It is adjacent to Philadelphia's northern fringe. Adrian Legg
Adrian Legg (born 16 May 1948) is an English guitar player who has been called "impossible to categorize". He plays custom guitars that are a hybrid of electric and acoustic, and his fingerstyle picking technique has been acknowledged by the readers of ''Guitar Player'' who voted Legg the "best acoustic fingerstyle" player four years in a row (1993–1996). From his early start as a bench technician customising electric guitars, Legg moved into guitar instruction, publishing books and videos on guitar technique. Martin Stewart Simpson (born 5 May 1953) is an English folk singer, guitarist and songwriter. Red House Records is an independent folk and Americana record label in St. Paul, Minnesota. The label was founded in 1983 by Bob Feldman after seeing a performance by Iowa folk singer Greg Brown. Origin The label is named for a farmhouse in Iowa where Brown was living when he started it. After Brown's albums '' 44 & 66'' and '' The Iowa Waltz'' were released in 1981 and 1982, it briefly went dormant until he met Bob Feldman in 1983. Jorma Kaukonen
Jorma Ludwik Kaukonen, Jr. (; ; born December 23, 1940) is an American blues, folk, and rock guitarist. Kaukonen performed with Jefferson Airplane and still performs regularly on tour with Hot Tuna, which started as a side project with bassist Jack Casady, and as of early 2019 has continued for 50 years. Arlo Guthrie
Arlo Davy Guthrie (born July 10, 1947) is an American folk singer-songwriter. He is known for singing songs of protest against social injustice, and storytelling while performing songs, following the tradition of his father, Woody Guthrie. Bill Morrissey (November 25, 1951 – July 23, 2011) was a Grammy-nominated American folk singer-songwriter based in New Hampshire. Early life Morrissey was born in Hartford, Connecticut. Growing up in Connecticut and Massachusetts, he started playing guitar at age 13 and formed a jug band in high school. He graduated from Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in 1969 and studied literature for a short time at Plymouth State University before beginning his musical career. Weissenborn
Weissenborn or H. Weissenborn is a brand of lap slide guitar manufactured by Hermann Weissenborn in Los Angeles in the 1920s and 1930s. These instruments are now highly sought after, and form the base for most non-resonator acoustic lap steel guitars currently produced. It is estimated that fewer than 5,000 original instruments were produced, and it is unknown how many now survive. The signature feature of Weissenborn guitars is the hollow neck, effectively a highly adapted body chamber that runs the entire length of the body, making conventional playing completely impossible.
