Edward B. Simpson
Edward Bayles Simpson (November 21, 1835 – January 12, 1915) was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly and the Wisconsin State Senate. He was born in Upper Canada, and settled in Princeton (town), Wisconsin, Princeton, Wisconsin in 1849 and Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1861, where he was involved in the lumber business. Simpson was a member of the Assembly in 1879 and 1880. He had previously been an unsuccessful candidate for the Assembly twice. In 1881 and 1882, Simpson represented the Wisconsin Senate, District 7, 7th District in the Senate. Other positions he held include Town Clerk, Assessor and Treasurer of Princeton. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Since 1973, the state has been divided into 99 Assembly districts apportioned amongst the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 99 representatives. From 1848 to 1853 there were 66 assembly districts; from 1854 to 1856, 82 districts; from 1857 to 1861, 97 districts; and from 1862 to 1972, 100 districts. Wisconsin State Senate
The Wisconsin Senate is the upper house of the Wisconsin State Legislature. Together with the larger Wisconsin State Assembly they constitute the legislative branch of the state of Wisconsin. The powers of the Wisconsin Senate are modeled after those of the U.S. Senate. The Wisconsin Constitution ties the size of the State Senate to that of the Assembly, by limiting its size to no less than 1/4, nor more than 1/3, of the size of the Assembly. Currently, Wisconsin is divided into 33 Senate Districts (1/3 of the current Assembly membership of 99) apportioned throughout the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 33 senators. The Province of Upper Canada (french: link=no, province du Haut-Canada) was a part of British Canada established in 1791 by the Kingdom of Great Britain, to govern the central third of the lands in British North America, formerly part of the Province of Quebec since 1763. Princeton is a town in Green Lake County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,540 at the 2000 census. The City of Princeton is located within the town. The unincorporated community of Green Lake Terrace is also located in the town. Wisconsin Senate, District 7
The 7th Senate district of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in southeast Wisconsin, the district comprises eastern and southeastern Milwaukee County, including downtown, south side, and lakeshore areas of the city of Milwaukee, as well as the cities of Cudahy, Oak Creek, South Milwaukee, and St. Francis, and part of the city of Franklin.
