Education In Gabon
Education in Gabon is largely based on the French educational system. On the federal level, it is regulated by two Ministries: the Ministry of Education, which is in charge of Pre-school through to High School, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Innovative Technologies, which is in charge of universities and professional schools. Education is compulsory for children ages 6 to 16 years under the Education Act. Most children in Gabon start their school lives by attending nurseries (''Crèche''), then kindergarten (''Jardins d'Enfants''). At age six, they are enrolled in primary school (''école primaire'') which is made up of five grades. The next level is secondary school (''école secondaire''), which is made up of seven grades. The intended age at graduation is 19 years. Graduates of secondary school can apply for universities or other institutions of higher learning, such as engineering schools or business schools. École Nationale D'Administration
The (; ENA; ) was a French ''grande école'', created in 1945 by the then Provisional Government of the French Republic, provisional chief of government Charles de Gaulle and principal co-author of the Constitution of France, 1958 Constitution Michel Debré, to democratize access to the senior French civil service, civil service. The school was frequently criticized from the 1970's onward for having built an incredibly elitist culture as well as being a stronghold for Technocracy, technocrats. An () or ENS (in English: "Institute of Advanced Education") is a type of elite publicly funded higher education institution in France. A portion of the student body, admitted via a highly-selective competitive examination process, are French civil servants and are known as ''normaliens''. Omar Bongo University
Omar Bongo University (French: ''Université Omar Bongo'') is a public university which was founded as the National University of Gabon in 1970. It was renamed in honor of President Omar Bongo in 1978. It is based in Libreville, and was the country's first university. It is Gabon's largest university and around 30,000 students are enrolled there (2020).
