Eduardo De Almeida Navarro
Eduardo de Almeida Navarro (born 20 February 1962) is a Brazilian philologist and lexicographer, specialist in Old Tupi and Nheengatu. He is a full professor at the University of São Paulo, where he has been teaching Old Tupi since 1993, and Nheengatu since 2009. Eduardo Navarro is also the author of the books ''Método moderno de tupi antigo'' (Modern Method of Old Tupi), 1998, and '' Dicionário de tupi antigo'' (Dictionary of Old Tupi), 2013, important works on the Tupi language. Biography Eduardo de Almeida Navarro was born on 20 February 1962 in the city of Fernandópolis, being the second son of Gabriel Navarro and Dalva de Almeida. He graduated in Geography from the São Paulo State University and in Classics from the University of São Paulo. In 1995, he received his PhD with a thesis on the issue of languages in the Renaissance. Fernandópolis is a municipality in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The population is 71,186 in an area of 550 km2. Fernandópolis is the center of the microregion of Fernandópolis with 104,623 inhabitants and area of 2,811.7 km2. ''Art of Grammar of the Most Used Language on the Coast of Brazil'' () is a book written in 1555 by Jesuit priest Joseph of Anchieta and first published in Portugal in the year 1595. It is the first grammar of a Brazilian indigenous language—in this case, Old Tupi—and the second one of an American indigenous language, following the grammar of Quechua by Domingo de Santo Tomás, published in 1560. In 1874, the work was translated into German by linguist Julius Platzmann under the title . It is the only known translation of this book by Anchieta. The Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, commonly shortened MPEG, is a Brazilian research institution and museum located in the city of Belém, state of Pará, Brazil. The Potiguara (also Potyguara or Pitiguara) are an indigenous peoples in Brazil, indigenous people of Brazil. Antonio Ruiz De Montoya
Antonio Ruiz de Montoya, SJ (13 June 1585 – 11 April 1652) was a Jesuit priest and missionary in the Paraguayan Reductions. Life Montoya was born in Lima, Peru, on 13 June 1585. He entered the Society of Jesus on 1 November 1606. In the same year, he accompanied Diego Torres, the first provincial of Paraguay, to this mission. In co-operation with José Cataldino and Simon Mazeta, he founded the Reductions of Guayra. He also brought a number of tribal groups into the Catholic Church, and is said to have personally baptized 100,000 Indians.
