Eduardo Benavente
Eduardo Benavente (October 30, 1962 - May 14, 1983) was a Spanish musician and the leader of Parálisis Permanente, a cult band of La Movida Madrileña. Benavente died at the age of 20 in a car accident. His untimely death made him into a symbol of the Spanish music scene of the 1980s. Musical career Benavente's career began in the group Prisma, along with Toti Árboles y Nacho Cano, later a member of Mecano. After Prisma separated, Benavente and Árboles formed Plástico, with Benavente on vocals and Árboles on drums. Before the band's first album was recorded, Benavente left the group to form Los Escaparates with Ángel Álvarez Caballero. In 1980, he became the drummer for Alaska y los Pegamoides, where he also composed the lyrics to some songs, including "Volar" and "El jardín". Alaska Y Los Pegamoides
Fangoria are a Spanish electropop duo, consisting of Olvido Gara (a.k.a. Alaska, main vocals, occasional guitar), and Nacho Canut (keyboards, occasional bass guitar). Fangoria have sold 1 million records worldwide since 1989. History In 1977 Alaska, along with Nacho Canut and Carlos Berlanga, formed the band Alaska y los Pegamoides. Later, in 1982, they changed the name to Alaska y Dinarama. The group was popular and influential during La Movida Madrileña. Some of their famous recordings include " ¿A quién le importa?" and "Ni tú ni nadie". The latter was entered for the Spanish heats of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1985 and later covered by the Mexican group Mœnia in 2004 and by the Puerto Rican band Circo in 2005. Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad genre of punk music that emerged in the late 1970s as musicians departed from punk's traditional elements and raw simplicity, instead adopting a variety of avant-garde sensibilities and non-rock influences. Inspired by punk's energy and DIY ethic but determined to break from rock cliches, artists experimented with styles like funk, electronic music, jazz, and dance music; the production techniques of dub and disco; and ideas from art and politics, including critical theory, modernist art, cinema and literature. ''La Movida Madrileña'' ( en, The Madrilenian Scene) was a countercultural movement that took place mainly in Madrid during the Spanish transition to democracy after the death of dictator Francisco Franco in 1975. The movement coincided with economic growth in Spain and a widespread desire for the development of a post-Francoist identity. The ''Concierto homenaje a Canito'' (Canito Memorial Concert), which took place on February 9, 1980, is traditionally considered the beginning of ''La Movida Madrileña''. Nacho Canut
Nacho Canut (5 June 1957 in Valencia, Spain) is the bass player and the main composer (along with Alaska) of the band Fangoria. He was also in the music groups Alaska y los Pegamoides and Alaska y Dinarama together with Carlos Berlanga and Alaska. He started his career with Kaka de Luxe in 1977, one of the first punk bands in Spain. Later, along with Berlanga and Alaska, Nacho Canut formed Alaska y los Pegamoides with Ana Curra and Eduardo Benavente. Alaska y los Pegamoides would become one of the cornerstones of La Movida Madrileña countercultural movement and an important influence for many Spanish punk bands. The name of the band was adopted along the line of Siouxsie and the Banshees (an important and recognizable influence in his music). With this band, Canut achieved hits like "Horror en el Hipermercado", "Bote de Colón", "Llegando Hasta el Final" and "Bailando" (which became an international hit). Fangoria
''Fangoria'' is an internationally distributed American horror film fan magazine, in publication since 1979. It is published four times a year by Fangoria Publishing, LLC and is edited by Phil Nobile Jr. The magazine was originally released in an age when horror fandom was still a burgeoning subculture; in the late 1970s, most horror publications were concerned with classic cinema, while those that focused on contemporary horror were largely fanzines. ''Fangoria'' rose to prominence by running exclusive interviews with horror filmmakers and offering behind-the-scenes photos and stories that were otherwise unavailable to fans in the era before the Internet.
