Eduard Moskaliov
Eduard Mykhailovych Moskaliov (; born 22 December 1973) is a major general of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. Career Moskaliov was appointed as the chief of staff - first deputy commander of the Ukrainian Operational Command East in 2019. Moskaliov was the commanding officer of the Joint Forces Operation (Ukraine), Joint Forces Operation from March 2022 until in February 2023, when he was dismissed without a public reason. In March 2023, he was appointed as the commander of the "Odesa" OSU. In August 2024, Moskaliov was appointed military government, military commandant of the territory in Kursk Oblast Ukrainian occupation of Kursk Oblast, occupied by Ukraine during the Kursk offensive (2024–2025), Kursk offensive. The Ukrainian Ground Forces (SVZSU, ), also referred to as the Ukrainian army, is a land force, and one of the eight Military branch, branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was formed from Ukrainian units of the Soviet Army after Declaration of Independence of Ukraine, Ukrainian independence, and its ancestry is traced back to the 1917–22 army of the Ukrainian People's Republic. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, Ukraine retained its Soviet-era army equipment. The Armed Forces were systematically downsized and underinvested in after 1991. As a result, the Ukrainian army had very little of its Soviet equipment in working order by July 2014, and most systems had become antiquated.
