Edouard Brunner
Edouard Brunner (February 24, 1932 – June 25, 2007) was a Switzerland, Swiss diplomat, ambassador, and United Nations mediation, mediator. Biography Brunner was born in Istanbul. A product of a diplomatic family, he studied law in Geneva and entered the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in 1956. He began his diplomatic career with posts in Bogotá, Washington, D.C., Warsaw, The Hague, and the United Nations in New York City. In the 1960s he got married with Mirjam Rahola. They had three children, two girls, Caroline and Irene, and one boy, Mark. In the 1970s, Brunner participated in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe including the 1975 signing of the Helsinki Accords. In 1980, he returned to Bern to head the political division and, in 1984, was Secretary of State for Swiss Federal Council member Pierre Aubert and was second-in-command at the Foreign relations of Switzerland, Swiss Foreign Ministry. ...

The Ambassador of Switzerland to France is the representative of Federal Council (Switzerland), the government of Switzerland in France and thus responsible for maintaining France–Switzerland relations, diplomatic relations between Switzerland and France. First permanent Swiss diplomatic representation in France The worldwide first ever permanent Swiss diplomatic representation was opened in Paris in April 1798, at the time of the Helvetic Republic. On 28 April 1798, the :fr:Directoire (République helvétique), Helvetic Directorate officially appointed the first Envoy (title), envoy, :de:Peter Josef Zeltner, Peter Josef Zeltner. However, Zeltner's posting to Paris had already taken place the day before, so that at the time of his appointment he was already on his way to Paris.
