Edo Technical College
Edo Technical College, sometimes referred to as Benin Technical College is a technical and vocational institution located in Edo State, Nigeria. The institution was first established in Benin City in 1970 by the Canadian government during the administration of late Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia. The school provides vocational and technical skills to students in order to promote entrepreneurship among youths in Edo State. The Government Science and Technical College (GSTC) Benin City, Edo State now wears a new look, thanks to the World Bank assisted State Employment and Expenditure for Results (SEEFOR). Samuel Ogbemudia
Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia (17 September 1932 – 9 March 2017) was a Nigerian army officer and politician. He was military Governor (1967–1975) of the Mid-West State, later renamed Bendel State, part of which in turn later became Edo State. After the return to democracy in 1999, he became a powerbroker in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In September 2009, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state and others attended his 77th birthday celebration in Benin. Igarra (also known as Etuno) is the Local Government Headquarters of the Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. The town is made up of the Ugbogbo, Utua, and Uffa quarters. It is beautified with rocky terrains, and is surrounded by the Kukuruku Hills. Igarra residents, known as ''Anetuno'', speak the Etuno language and share linguistic and cultural similarities with the Egbira of Kogi State. Uromi
Uromi is a town in northeastern Esan, an ethnic group in Central Edo state, Nigeria. At various points in Uromi's history, the town and people have been known for their resilience and strength. The people of Uromi, led by Agba N'Ojie resisted the Benin Empire expansionism during the reign of Oba Ozolua. They were also at the forefront of the resistance of the British invasion of Esanland.
