Edna Loftus
Edna Loftus (c. 1891 – 15 June 1916) was a British actress who was briefly married to champion jockey Winnie O'Connor and gained notoriety in the United States for marrying Harry A. Rheinstrom, the heir to a Cincinnati brewing fortune, against the wishes of his family in 1910. While trained for musical theater in her early career in London, she was a cafe singer and hotel operator during her later years in California as a means to support herself during her second husband's illness. She died in poverty in San Francisco in 1916 of tuberculosis after divorcing Rheinstrom in 1914. Acting career Edna Loftus was born in London and grew up in Southwark. She first appeared at The Palace in a February 1906 revival of the musical comedy ''The Catch of the Season'' and as a female attendant in ''Madame Lingerie''. Stockton State Hospital
Stockton State Hospital or the Stockton Developmental Center was California's first psychiatric hospital. The hospital opened in 1851 in Stockton, California and closed 1995–1996. The site is currently used as the Stockton campus of California State University, Stanislaus. History It was constructed as the Insane Asylum of California at Stockton in 1851. It was on of land donated by Captain Charles Maria Weber. The legislature at the time felt that existing hospitals were incapable of caring for the large numbers of people who suffered from mental and emotional conditions as a result of the California Gold Rush, and authorized the creation of the first public mental health hospital in California. The hospital is #1016 on the Office of Historic Preservation's California Historical Landmark list, and today is home to California State University's Stanislaus - Stockton Campus. Fruitvale (originally Fruit Vale and formerly Brays) is a neighborhood in Oakland, California, United States. It is located approximately 4 miles (6.44 km) southeast of Downtown, and is home to the city's largest Hispanic population, with Hispanics constituting 53.8% of Fruitvale's population.
