Edna Hong (translator)
Edna Hong (; 28 January 19133 April 2007) was an American literary scholar and translator, known for her collaboration in translating Søren Kierkegaard's corpus. Career Together with her husband Howard Hong, she earned recognition in the world of philosophical translation, in particular vis-à-vis the translation from Danish to English of the works of Søren Kierkegaard. Søren Aabye Kierkegaard ( , , ; 5 May 1813 – 11 November 1855) was a Danish theologian, philosopher, poet, social critic, and religious author who is widely considered to be the first Existentialism, existentialist philosopher. He wrote critical texts on organized religion, Christendom, Christianity, morality, ethics, psychology, and the philosophy of religion, displaying a fondness for metaphor, irony, and parables.
