Edmonton Incinerator
Edmonton EcoPark is a waste-to-energy plant which burns waste from several London boroughs to provide electricity for the National Grid. It is located on the River Lee Navigation and bordered by the North Circular Road, in Edmonton in the London Borough of Enfield. It is also known as Edmonton EcoPark. History The facility was commissioned (began operations) in 1971, by the Greater London Council. The building is of metal sheet clad construction with a reinforced concrete chimney. It was described by Bridget Cherry as being, ''"on the edge of the marshes, in a setting that enhances its impressive scale. Vast box-like forms clad in corrugated metal sheeting, pale grey and dark grey, approached by two big ramps on tapering piers. Huge cylindrical concrete chimney containing two flues."'' Brian Wilson (Labour Politician)
Brian David Henderson Wilson (born 13 December 1948) is a former Scottish Labour Party politician. He was Member of Parliament for Cunninghame North from 1987 until 2005 and served as a minister of state from 1997 to 2003. After standing down as a minister prior to his departure from Parliament, he was asked by Tony Blair to act as the Prime Minister's Special Representative on Overseas Trade. Having continued to take an interest in trade promotion, he was appointed to the newly re-established UK Board of Trade in 2017. Incinerator bottom ash (IBA) is a form of ash produced in incineration facilities. This material is discharged from the moving grate of municipal solid waste incinerators. Once IBA is processed by removing contaminants, it can be used as an aggregate. Following processing, the material is termed ''IBA aggregate'' or ''processed IBA''. The aggregate uses include: * Bulk fill * Asphalt * Cement bound materials * Lightweight blocks * Pavement concrete Alternatively, if there are no local markets for the IBA the material is disposed of in a landfill.
