Francis William Edmonds (November 22, 1806 – February 7, 1863) was an American painter of genre works, genre subjects. He often painted in the style of 17th century Dutch painters. He kept up his painting career as well as a career in banking. Early life He was born on November 22, 1806, in Hudson, New York, one child in a large Quaker family. He was skilled in drawing but found that it was too expensive to get training in etching as he wished. Instead, he followed the path of an uncle into the business of banking. Career He was engaged during the greater part of his life as a cashier in a bank, starting in 1823 in the Tradesmen's Bank of New York. The schools of the National Academy of Design opened in 1826, which stimulated him to improve his artistic skills. He registered as a "student of the antique" from 1827 to 1830, while continuing at the bank. Philippe-Henri Edmonds (born 8 March 1951) is a former cricketer who represented England at international level and Middlesex at county level. After retiring he became a successful, albeit controversial, corporate executive. He was a part of the English squad which finished as runners-up at the 1979 Cricket World Cup. Edmonds played most of his cricket as a lower-order right-handed batsman, and bowled slow left-arm orthodox spin. Mike Edmonds (born 13 January 1944) is an English actor with achondroplasia ( dwarfism), known for his role as Little Ron in the children's television show '' Maid Marian and Her Merry Men''. Edmonds has appeared in several films, including '' Flash Gordon'' (1980), '' The Dark Crystal'' (1982), and ''Who Framed Roger Rabbit'' (1988).
