Edgaras Ulanovas
Edgaras Ulanovas (born January 7, 1992) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player and the team captain for Žalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) and the EuroLeague. Professional career On 25 April 2014, Ulanovas was named the Co- VTB United League Young Player of the Year, along with Dmitry Kulagin. In 2017, he was named the MVP of the 2017 King Mindaugas Cup, and also the MVP of the 2017 LKL Finals. In 2019, Ulanovas was named the LKL Finals MVP for a second time in his career. In 2020, Ulanovas was named MVP of the 2020 King Mindaugas Cup. On 9 July 2020, Ulanovas transferred to the Turkish EuroLeague powerhouse Fenerbahçe, after a full decade with Žalgiris. During his first game as a member of the new team in the EuroLeague, Ulanovas was one of the team leaders by scoring 13 points, and helped his team to achieve a 77–63 season opening victory versus the KK Crvena zvezda. BC Žalgiris
Basketball Club Žalgiris () commonly known as BC Žalgiris, is a professional basketball club based in Kaunas, Lithuania. They compete domestically in the Lietuvos krepšinio lyga, Lithuanian Basketball League (''Lietuvos krepšinio lyga'') and internationally as a long-term licensed EuroLeague team. Karaliaus Mindaugo taurė (English: King Mindaugas Cup) is an annual national domestic basketball cup competition between Lithuanian professional teams. It is organised by the Lithuanian Basketball League (Lietuvos krepšinio lyga – LKL). The tournament is named in honor of Mindaugas, the first and only King of Lithuania. The Final four event includes an annual LKL Three-point Shootout contest, LKL Future Cup was introduced in 2018 with Žalgiris and Rytas youth teams competing for the cup. The 2013–14 VTB United League was the 5th complete season of the VTB United League. The tournament featured 20 teams, from 10 countries during the season, 2 more teams than the previous year. It was the first season the VTB United League that functioned as the new domestic first tier level for Russian basketball clubs. 2015 LKL All-Star Game
The annual 2015 LKL All-Star Game, was held on March 29, in Vilnius. The format was different from the previous contests: one team – Amžini Priešininkai – consisted of the best players from the two rivaling teams of Žalgiris and Lietuvos rytas, and the other team – LKL Žvaigždės – consisted of the best players from the rest of the LKL teams. Teams ** Former Žalgiris and Lietuvos rytas members, Grigorij Khizhnyak and Andrius Šležas, respectively, appeared in the game, as a surprise to the spectators. While a member of Žalgiris, Khizhnyak led the EuroLeague in blocks per game, and otherwise led the team in points and rebounds. Šležas represented Lietuvos rytas for 9 seasons, and was known for his three point shooting abilities. LKL All-Star Game
The LKL All-Star Game is the All-Star Game of the professional Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). The game is held once every year. The participants of the game are chosen in two ways: the first is via fan ballot, with the leading vote recipients at each position starting the game; secondly the reserves are chosen by a vote among the head coaches of each squad. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players. If a player is injured, and cannot participate, the league's commissioner will select a replacement. Features The All-Star Game is played under normal FIBA rules, but there are notable differences from an average game. The player introductions are usually accompanied by a significant amount of fanfare, including lighting effects, dance music, and pyrotechnics. LKF Cup
The LKF Cup was an annual national domestic cup competition for Lithuanian professional basketball teams. It was organised by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation (Lietuvos Krepšinio Federacija - LKF). The competition's full name was Lietuvos Krepšinio Federacija Taurė ( English: Lithuanian Basketball Federation Cup). Before 2007, the LKF Cup wasn't held regularly, but after that, its finals were organised every January, February, or March. Between 2007 and 2014, the competition was played between teams from the LKL, the NKL, and the RKL. In 2015, the LKF decided to change the competition format, and it was then played between the top eight qualified teams of the LKL, after the first half of the season. The Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL) Finals is the championship finals series for the top-tier level professional club basketball league in Lithuania, the LKL, and the conclusion of the league's postseason. The Finals have been played in either a best-of-seven, or a best-of five format. The first LKL Finals series was held in 1994, and was contested by Žalgiris and Atletas, with Žalgiris winning the series 3–1. Žalgiris Kaunas has been the most successful team, having won 22 out of the 27 LKL Finals series that have been played so far. Lietuvos rytas Vilnius is the only other team to win the LKL Finals.
