Edgar Williamson Jr.
Edgar Williamson Jr. (November 24, 1903 - April 1981) was an American Republican Party politician who served four terms in the New Jersey General Assembly. He attended public schools in East Orange, New Jersey and worked as a Realtor and insurance executive. He was the Vice President of Firemen's Insurance Company. He served as a member of the East Orange Zoning Board of Adjustment, and as Chairman of the Essex County Young Republicans. He was elected to the New Jersey State Assembly in 1937, and was re-elected in 1938, 1939 and 1940. New Jersey General Assembly
The New Jersey General Assembly is the lower house of the New Jersey Legislature. Since the election of 1967 (1968 session), the Assembly has consisted of 80 members. Two members are elected from each of New Jersey's 40 legislative districts for a term of two years, each representing districts with average populations of 232,225 (2020 figures), with deviation in each district not exceeding 3.21% above and below that average. To be eligible to run, a potential candidate must be at least 21 years of age, and must have lived in their district for at least one year prior to the election, and have lived in the state of New Jersey for two years. They also must be residents of their districts. Membership in the Assembly is considered a part-time job, and many members have employment in addition to their legislative work. Firemen's Insurance Company Building
The Home Office Building is located adjacent to Military Park at 10 Park Place in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The building was built in 1928 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 17, 1982. The building is one of two existing structures in downtown Newark commissioned by the Firemen's Insurance Company, an insurance company founded in 1855, to house its offices. The Military Park building was designed by prominent father-and-son Newark architects John H. & Wilson C. Ely. Construction began in 1924 and the building was completed in 1928. In 1982 the building was designated a New Jersey Historic Place and a National Historic Place. The 10-story building has of space. The Berger Organization purchased the building in 1990, the same year a plaque was placed on it by the Newark Preservation and Landmarks Committee. The building underwent renovations in 2006. Young Republicans
The Young Republican National Federation, commonly referred to as the Young Republicans or YRNF, is a 527 organization for members of the Republican Party of the United States between the ages of 18 and 40. It has both a national organization and chapters in individual states. Although frequently confused, the YRNF is separate from the College Republicans. Young Republican clubs are both social and political in nature. Many of them sponsor various social events and networking events for members. In addition, Young Republican clubs assist Republican political candidates and causes.
