Edgar-Rodolphe-Eugène Chevrier
Edgar-Rodolphe-Eugène Chevrier (October 5, 1887 – August 26, 1956) was a Canadian lawyer, judge and political figure. He represented Ottawa (City of) (electoral district), City of Ottawa in the House of Commons of Canada from 1921 to 1935 and Ottawa East (electoral district), Ottawa East from 1935 to 1936 as a Liberal Party of Canada, Liberal member. Biography He was born in Ottawa, Ontario in 1887, the son of Eugene Louis Chevrier and Delia St-Jacques. Chevrier was educated at the University of Ottawa and Osgoode Hall. He was called to the Ontario bar in 1912 and the Quebec bar in 1914. In 1914, he married Eugénie, the daughter of Charles Champagne (MLA for Deux-Montagnes), Charles Champagne. After the death of his first wife, Chevrier married Juliette Nantel in 1918. They had three daughters: Regine, Louise and Marie-Helene. He was named a King's Counsel in Quebec in 1928. King's Counsel
A King's Counsel (Post-nominal letters, post-nominal initials KC) is a senior lawyer appointed by the monarch (or their Viceroy, viceregal representative) of some Commonwealth realms as a "Counsel learned in the law". When the reigning monarch is a woman, the title is Queen's Counsel (QC). The position originated in England and Wales. Some Commonwealth countries have retained the designation, while others have either abolished the position or renamed it so as to remove monarchical connotations — for example, "Senior Counsel" or "Senior Advocate". Appointment as King's Counsel is an office recognised by courts. Members in the UK have the privilege of sitting within the inner Bar (law), bar of court. The ''Ottawa Citizen'' is an English-language daily newspaper owned by Postmedia Network in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. History Established as the Bytown ''Packet'' in 1845 by William Harris (journalist), William Harris, it was renamed the ''Citizen'' in 1851. Gracefield, Quebec
Gracefield is a city in La Vallée-de-la-Gatineau Regional County Municipality in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada. It was reorganized on 13 March 2002 when three former municipalities (Gracefield, Northfield, and Wright) were merged into one. Its name comes from Patrick Grace who opened there the first business and was mayor of Wright from 1885 to 1890. Gracefield is located along the Gatineau River and Picanoc River. Its area is dotted with many lakes, most of which are lined with numerous summer camps and cottages. Charles Champagne (MLA For Deux-Montagnes)
Charles Laplante dit Champagne (; October 16, 1838 – December 22, 1907) was a lawyer, judge and political figure in Quebec. He represented Deux-Montagnes in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1876 to 1882 as a Conservative. His name also appears as Charles Champagne. He was born in Saint-Eustache, Lower Canada, the son of Charles Laplante dit Champagne and Christine Andrave. He was educated at the Séminaire de Sainte-Thérèse-de-Blainville and worked on the family farm, going on to study law with Gédéon Ouimet and Joseph-Adolphe Chapleau. In 1860, he married Aglaé Éthier. He was admitted to the Lower Canada bar in 1865. Champagne was first elected to the Quebec assembly in an 1876 by-election held after Gédéon Ouimet resigned his seat. He resigned his seat in 1882 and ran unsuccessfully for reelection later that year.
