Eddie Girdler
Eddie Girdler politician and former mayor of Somerset, Kentucky. He was unseated by the current mayor Alan Keck. Impeachment threat On November 13, 2007, City Councilman Jim Mitchell moved to impeach mayor Girdler. The situation began when City Attorney Carrie Wiese presented a resolution drafted by councilor Jim Rutherford asking for a state auditor to examine the City of Somerset's budget from January 1, 2007, to present. 2010 re-election bid Girdler announced that he would run for re-election in 2010. He faced three opponents on the May 18 primary: Former mayor and current campaign treasurer for Congressman Hal Rogers, J.P Wiles; local business owner Bill Hamilton; and former Somerset police chief and current chief deputy at the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department, Larry Wesley. Somerset, Kentucky
Somerset is a home rule-class city in Pulaski County, Kentucky, United States. The city population was 11,924 according to the 2020 census. It is the seat of Pulaski County. History Somerset was first settled in 1798 by Thomas Hansford and received its name from Somerset County, New Jersey, where some of the early settlers had formerly lived. Somerset became the Pulaski County seat in 1802, and was incorporated as a city in 1887. A Civil War battle was fought in January 1862, at Mill Springs (now "Nancy") about west of Somerset, and a museum is at the site. A smaller battle was fought nearby at Dutton's Hill in 1863. In 1875 tracks for the Southern Railroad were completed and Somerset saw a population growth and an increase in industry. In the late 1930s and early 1940s, library services were provided by the pack horse library. Harold Dallas Rogers (born December 31, 1937) is an American lawyer and politician serving his 21st term as the U.S. representative for , having served since 1981.
