Eddie Flynn
Eddie Flynn (5 November 1919 – 6 March 2002) was an Irish professional soccer player who played as a goalkeeper in the League of Ireland during the 1930s and 1940s. Flynn played for St James's Gate F.C., Bohemians, Cliftonville F.C. and Drumcondra, among others, during his career in the League of Ireland and the Irish League. Flynn emigrated to Canada in the late 1940s, where he continued to play soccer for the East End Canadians and Toronto Ulster United FC. He was also selected for the Ontario All Stars. In 1950, Flynn emigrated from Canada to the United States. In New York, he continued his soccer career, playing for the New York Americans, the Brooklyn Hispanos and the New York Hakoah. Corduff (Irish language, Irish: ''An Chorr Dhubh'') is a northwestern suburb of Dublin, in Fingal, Republic of Ireland, Ireland, 10 km from Dublin city centre. It is a part of the wider Blanchardstown area and is in the Dublin 15 postal district. New York Americans (soccer) (1933–1956) Players
The New York Americans, colloquially known as the Amerks, were a professional ice hockey team based in New York City from 1925 to 1942. They were the third expansion team in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the second to play in the United States. The team never won the Stanley Cup, but reached the semifinals twice. While it was the first team in New York City, it was eclipsed by the second, the New York Rangers, which arrived in 1926 under the ownership of the Amerks' landlord, Madison Square Garden. The team played as the Brooklyn Americans during the 1941–42 season before suspending operations in 1942 due to World War II and long-standing financial difficulties. The demise of the club marked the beginning of the NHL's Original Six era from 1942 to 1967, though the Amerks' franchise was not formally canceled until 1946.
