Eddie Dean (born Edgar Dean Glosup, – ) was an American Western singer and actor whom Roy Rogers and Gene Autry termed the best cowboy A cowboy is an animal herder who tends cattle on ranches in North America, traditionally on horseback, and often performs a multitude of other ranch-related tasks. Dean was best known for "I Dreamed of a Hill-Billy Heaven" (1955), which became an even greater hit for Tex Ritter in 1961. Dean charted twice on the US Country charts; "One Has My Name (The Other Has My Heart)" peaked at number 11 in 1948 and "I Dreamed of a Hill-Billy Heaven" peaked at number 10 in 1955. Dean co-wrote both songs. Dean charted again with the song "Way Out Yonder" in 1955. "Stars over Texas" is a song by American country music artist Tracy Lawrence. It was released in July 1996, as the third single from his album ''Time Marches On''. Lawrence wrote the song with Larry Boone and Paul Nelson, and produced it with Flip Anderson The song peaked at number 2 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot Country Songs chart, and peaked at number 42 on the Canadian ''RPM'' Country Tracks chart. Content The song is a mid-tempo country waltz, in which the narrator states how long he plans to love this person, and to be true. Music video The music video, directed by Marc Ball, begins with someone opening the door of a grandfather clock, and stopping the hands. The rest of the video consists of Lawrence sitting on a stool with a guitar, and singing interspersed with shots of a woman putting on perfume and dancing with a man. A singing cowboy was a subtype of the archetypal cowboy hero of early Western films. It references real-world campfire side ballads in the American frontier, the original cowboys sang of life on the trail with all the challenges, hardships, and dangers encountered while pushing cattle for miles up the trails and across the prairies. This continues with modern vaquero traditions and within the genre of Western music, and its related New Mexico, Red Dirt, Tejano, and Texas country music styles.
