Eddie Byrne (hurler)
Edward "Eddie" Byrne (29 October 1905 – 29 October 1944) was an Irish hurler who played as a midfielder for the Dublin and Kilkenny senior teams. Byrne made his first appearance for the Dublin team during the 1929 championship and became a regular player on the inter-county scene over the next decade. During that time he won three All-Ireland medals, five Leinster medals and two National Hurling League medal. Dicksboro is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Kilkenny City, Ireland. History Dicksboro GAA Club, founded in 1909. The club takes its name from Dicksboro townland, located next to Kilkenny Airport, the current ground is Palmerstown, to the west of the city. Dicksboro entered and won the junior championship of 1910. Dicksboro entered the senior championship in 1911. Dicksboro had no team from 1961 to 1969, until the club was reformed. Dicksboro officially opened the grounds in Palmerstown in June 1990. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire, London and Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. Teams representing subdivisions of counties, such as Fingal and South Down have also participated at various times. The National Hurling League has been associated with a title sponsor since 1985.
