Eddie Brown (1918–1992) was an American tap dancer. Origin When Eddie Brown was 16, he entered a talent contest in his hometown when he was sixteen years old. He won first place and was discovered by famous American entertainer Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, who offered him a job in New York. Brown’s parents would not allow him to travel across the country to dance because he was still in school, however Brown went to New York anyway. Edward James "Bongo" Brown (September 13, 1932 – December 28, 1984) was an American percussionist known for his work with The Funk Brothers, Detroit-based session musicians who performed the backing to most Motown recordings from 1959 to 1972. Biography Brown was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi on September 13, 1932. He was raised in Memphis, Tennessee. He later moved to Detroit and in 1962 he joined The Funk Brothers, Motown Records' in-house session musicians. According to Jack Ashford, Brown started out as a valet for Marvin Gaye and played bongos once Gaye began performing on-stage. Brown played congas, bongos, the gourd and claves. Brown became Motown's leading percussionist and for a decade was on almost every key release from the label. He was known for his sense of humor and for being the "studio clown". Stanley Motta was an electronics store proprietor who established a record label in Kingston, Jamaica and opened the first privately owned recording studio in Jamaica in 1951, jump starting Jamaica's music industry. Career Motta recorded calypso and mento style albums. He recorded on 78 rpm records. Talent from Vere Johns competitions was scouted by producers such as Clement "Coxsone" Dodd and Arthur "Duke" Reid. The groups recorded at Motta's studio. Edwin Brown (28 February 1926 – 12 July 2012) was an English footballer who played as a centre forward. He played professionally for a number of clubs, but the peak of his career was spent with Birmingham City during their most successful period in the 1950s. Over a professional career of nearly 400 appearances in the Football League, he scored at a rate of very nearly one goal every two games. He was a pioneer of the goal celebration. "Downtown" Eddie Brown (born August 6, 1966) is a former slotback in the Canadian Football League between 1990 & 2002. Brown played with eight CFL teams, and appeared in two Grey Cup championships with the Edmonton Eskimos, winning the 81st Grey Cup in 1993. In 1995, he played for the Memphis Mad Dogs. In 1996, after the demise of the Memphis Mad Dogs, he re-signed with the Edmonton Eskimos. In 1999, he played for the BC Lions. Eddie Brown (born October 2, 1969), nicknamed "Touchdown", is a former arena football offensive specialist who played for the Albany/Indiana Firebirds of the Arena Football League (AFL) from 1994 to 2003. He played college football at Louisiana Tech. Professional career Brown played for the Albany Firebirds from 1994 until 2000, when he had to retire after the first game of the 2000 season due to the custody battle of his daughter. In his time in Albany, Eddie won ArenaBowl XIII in 1999 and won ArenaBowl MVP. He also won the AFL's Most Valuable Player award in 1994. Paul Edward Brown (born February 19, 1952) is a former American football safety in the National Football League (NFL) for the Cleveland Browns, the Washington Redskins, and the Los Angeles Rams. He played college football at the University of Tennessee. Brown attended Marion County High School in Jasper and graduated in 1970. At the University of Tennessee, he was a safety and punt returner. In 1973, he was team captain as a senior and was a first-team All-America selection by Football News. Brown was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the eighth round of the 1974 NFL Draft.
