Ed Sniffen
Clyde "Ed" Sniffen, Jr. is an American attorney who served as acting Alaska attorney general from August 25, 2020, to January 30, 2021, in the administration of Republican Governor Mike Dunleavy. Sniffen had assumed office after the resignation of his predecessor, Kevin Clarkson. Sniffen resigned in January 2021 after allegations of the existence of an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old high school girl whom he coached in 1991 surfaced. Three charges related to the allegations were filed in Alaska on May 27, 2022. Career Sniffen earned a Juris Doctor from the Willamette University College of Law. After graduating from law school, he worked as a private attorney. He joined the office of the Alaska Attorney General in 2000, specializing in antitrust and consumer protection litigation. Alaska Attorney General
The Alaska Attorney General is the chief legal advisor to the government of the State of Alaska and to its governor. The Attorney General is appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Alaska Legislature. The position has existed since the early days of the Territory of Alaska, though it was an elected rather than an appointed position prior to statehood. Mike Dunleavy (politician)
Michael James Dunleavy (born May 5, 1961) is an American educator and politician serving as the 12th governor of Alaska. A Republican, Dunleavy was a member of the Alaska Senate from 2013 to 2018. He defeated former Democratic United States senator Mark Begich in the 2018 gubernatorial election after incumbent governor Bill Walker dropped out of the race. He was reelected in 2022. Early life, education, and teaching career Dunleavy was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Kevin Clarkson
Kevin G. Clarkson (born April 27, 1959) is an American attorney from the state of Alaska who was the 32nd Alaska Attorney General from 2018 to 2020. Early life and career After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oregon State University, Clarkson graduated cum laude from the Willamette University College of Law in 1985. He worked for the law firm Perkins Coie from 1985 to 1995 and for Brena, Bell & Clarkson, P.C. from 1985 to 2018.
