Eckstein Middle School (EMS, formally Nathan Eckstein Middle School) is a middle school located in Seattle, Washington, and is part of Seattle Public Schools. History Eckstein Middle School is part of the Seattle Public School District and located on the border of the Wedgwood and Ravenna neighborhoods. It was named after Nathan Eckstein, a Seattle businessman, Seattle School Board member, and onetime director of Seattle Public Schools. The school originally opened as a junior high school in 1950 to 790 students. In 1971, it was changed into a middle school, teaching students in grades six through eight. For many years leading up to 2014, when school boundaries changed, Eckstein's student enrollment was about 1300 students. Warren Eckstein (born April 6, 1949) is an American "pet behaviorist", animal trainer, animal rights activist, humorist, author, director of the Hugs & Kisses Animal Fund, and broadcaster in the United States who hosts ''The Pet Show'', a radio talk show syndicated by Radio America. Prior to that, Eckstein was resident animal expert for ''Saturday Morning Live'', a local New York City-based series hosted by Gene Rayburn, which aired on WNEW-TV from 1982 to 1983. Yechiel Eckstein (; July 11, 1951 – February 6, 2019) was an Israeli American rabbi who founded International Fellowship of Christians and Jews in 1983 and led it for many years. The objectives of the organisation were to support Jews in need of financial help, to promote emigration of Jews to Israel, and to support poor soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces. In 2003, it was listed as the second-largest charitable foundation in Israel by ''Ha'aretz''. In 2010 ''Newsweek'' listed him in the Top 50 Most Influential Rabbis in America. Yael Eckstein () is president and CEO of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (also referred to as IFCJ or The Fellowship). Biography Eckstein is the daughter of Yechiel Eckstein, a rabbi. She was born in Evanston, Illinois, and raised in Chicago. Eckstein studied at Torat Chesed Seminary in Israel, Queens College in New York, and Hebrew University in Jerusalem. She has degrees in Biblical and Jewish studies and sociology.
