Eat (band)
Eat are a British alternative rock band. They were active in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and then reformed in 2014. They have released two albums on The Cure's label Fiction. The band achieved reasonable success in the UK but did not attract much attention abroad. Career The band started out playing a distinctive mixture of swamp blues, hip-hop and funk, showcased on their 1989 album ''Sell Me a God''. At this time they undertook tours of Europe with The Jesus and Mary Chain and Phillip Boa. Band tensions led to the abandonment of a second album in 1990, although they toured in October on the back of an ''NME'' single of the week, "Psycho Couch". The Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts (commonly referred to as simply Glastonbury Festival, known colloquially as Glasto) is a five-day festival of contemporary performing arts held near Pilton, Somerset, England, in most summers. Medicine (band)
Medicine are an American Rock music, rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1990 by guitarist/keyboardist Brad Laner. They are perhaps best known for their cameo appearance in the 1994 film ''The Crow (1994 film), The Crow'', in which they performed "Time Baby II", although the soundtrack album included a different version titled "Time Baby III" (featuring guest vocals from the Cocteau Twins' Elizabeth Fraser). History Medicine was formed by ex-Savage Republic drummer Brad Laner, based on some 4-track recordings Laner was working on in 1990. Summer In The City (song)
"Summer in the City" is a song by the Canadian-American folk-rock band the Lovin' Spoonful. Written by John Sebastian, Mark Sebastian and Steve Boone, the song was released as a non-album single in July 1966 and was included on the album '' Hums of the Lovin' Spoonful'' later that year. The single was the Lovin' Spoonful's fifth to break the top ten in the United States, and the only one by the group to reach number one. A departure from the band's lighter sound, the recording features a harder rock style. The lyrics differ from most songs about the summer by lamenting the heat, contrasting the unpleasant warmth and noise of the daytime with the relief offered by the cool night, which allows for the nightlife to begin. John Sebastian reworked the lyrics and melody of "Summer in the City" from a song written by his teenage brother Mark. Boone contributed the song's bridge while in the studio. Epicure (album)
''Epicure'' is the second studio album by the British alternative rock band Eat. After the release of their debut album ''Sell Me a God'', Eat had all but split up. A year later they reformed without guitarist brothers Max Noble and Paul Noble and having recruited Jem Moorshead and Max Lavilla to replace them they toured with The Wonder Stuff and Kingmaker in December 1991 before going out on their own headline tour. The line up changes led to a change in sound with the bluesy style of Sell Me a God having been replaced by a more psychedelic pop rock sound. Release and reception The first music released from the album were the songs Golden Egg and Belly Town which featured on the Golden Egg EP released in June 1992. The band toured the UK in May and June in support of this new music. ''Epicure'' was released on the Fiction Records label on the 14 June 1993. The Blue Aeroplanes are an English rock band from Bristol, the mainstays of which have been Gerard Langley, brother John Langley, and dancer Wojtek Dmochowski. All three had previously been members of the New wave music, new wave "art band" Art Objects (band), Art Objects from 1978 to 1981. History The Blue Aeroplanes first performed under that name at the King Street Art Gallery in Bristol in 1981. Their line-up featured artists who played in numerous prominent bands: Miles Hunt in The Wonder Stuff, Billy Duffy in The Cult, and Morgan Nicholls in Senseless Things, The Streets, and Muse.
