Easy (Grinspoon Album)
Easy is the second studio album released by the Australian rock band Grinspoon. It was released on 1 November 1999, debuting at No. 4 on the Australian album charts and remaining in the top 50 for 13 weeks. It eventually achieved platinum sales in Australia. Work on the album began in August 1999 with the producer Jonathan Burnside (Nirvana, Melvins, Depeche Mode, Meat Beat Manifesto). The album was recorded in Sydney and mixed in Melbourne. The initial release of the album included a bonus disc containing eleven live tracks from the band's New Year's Eve performance at the 1998 Falls Festival. Four singles were released from the album, " Ready 1", " Secrets", "Rock Show" and " Violent and Lazy", of which "Ready 1" charted in the ARIA Singles Chart at No. 36, "Secrets" at No. 83 and "Rock Show" at No. 78. Alternative Metal
Alternative metal (also known as alt-metal) is a genre of heavy metal music that combines heavy metal with influences from alternative rock and other genres not normally associated with metal. Alternative metal bands are often characterized by heavily Downtuned guitar, downtuned, mid-paced guitar riffs, a mixture of accessible melodic vocals and Screaming (music), harsh vocals and sometimes sounds that are unconventional within other heavy metal styles. The term has been in use since the 1980s, although it came into prominence in the 1990s. Other genres considered part of the alternative metal movement included rap metal and funk metal, both of which influenced another prominent subgenre, nu metal. Melvins
Melvins (sometimes the Melvins) are an American rock band formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington. Their early work was key to the development of both grunge and sludge metal. Primarily a trio, they have also performed as a quartet, with either two drummers or two bassists. Since 1984, vocalist and guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover have been constant members. Pat Davern
Pat Davern is an Australian musician and the guitarist for Grinspoon. His solo album ''Alexander the Elephant in Zanzibar'' was nominated for the 2016 ARIA Award for Best Children's Album. During a hiatus for Grinspoon, Davern wrote a book, titled ''Alexander the Elephant in Zanzibar'', which was illustrated by Martin Chatterton. The book was launched in November 2015. Davern also recorded an album version of the book. It featured appearances from Tom Williams, Pete Murray, Alex Lloyd, Megan Washington, Connie Mitchell and members of Kingswood. Philip William H Jamieson (born 18 April 1977) is an Australian musician from Hornsby, New South Wales. He is a founding member and singer-guitarist for the rock music, rock band Grinspoon. Early life and education Philip William H Jamieson was born on 18 April 1977 in Hornsby, New South Wales, while his parents were on the road. His father was the singer of a Christian rock 'n' roll band, Good Grief, while his mother was a keyboard player in the support act. The pair toured beach missions on a Baptist church initiative. Falls Festival
Falls Music & Arts Festival (commonly known as Falls) is a multi-day music festival held annually in Byron Bay (New South Wales) and Fremantle (Western Australia), Australia over the New Year's Eve and January period. The festival hosts contemporary music performances, dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret, and other art forms.
